Chapter 44

Sal was pushed against the wall and kissed as soon as the front door shut.

"What was that for?"

"That was really really hot. Maybe I should fill out a form online for certain churches to send out some people so they can piss you off again."

"Please do not do that." Seggun said, interrupting them.

"But he is sexy when he is fussing people out."

"If that is what you want, then I am sure we can find another way to piss him off without religious people banging on the door demanding they pray away the gay so we can be saved."

"You do make a good point."

"I do do that sometimes."

"Have you ever tried to shapeshift into a dog?"

"What?"

"Sal, guess what? I found a spell that looks promising. It was in the stack of books that I had picked out. Come let me show you." Emily grabbed his arm and pulled him back to the other room, without looking back at a confused Saggun.

She showed him a leather bound book with animal shapes burnt onto the front and back. He didn't recognize it as one of his own, but with a collection as large as theirs it was possible to forget what books they had acquired over the years Maybe Manny had purchased it on one of his searches for grimoires. One thing he knew for certain, was that he had never read it.

"I don't recognize this book, where did you find it?" He asked her.

"Honestly, I don't even know. When I was searching our library I picked up every book with a reference to shapeshifting. With a cover like this, you would think I would remember adding it to the pile, but I don't. After you went to check the door, I returned the book about Loki to the shelves and when I returned this was sitting on top of my pile. I mean it is possible that when I was speaking to Manny a few days ago that I grabbed it without looking, thinking that I was grabbing the one beside it and then continued on my search for more books." She stated.

"That is possible." He agreed. "So what did it say that is so promising?"

"It is possible for a human to become a shapeshifter of sorts."

"What is the catch?"

"Well.... you need....I would." She could not find the right words to explain what was required of said human.

Sal grabbed the book and began reading when he noticed Emily's reluctance.

"Swearing loyalty and becoming a familiar? I thought you wanted to become a male not a dog, cat, rat, bird, or a snake." He was both confused and intrigued at the same time. He was confused because he knew she wanted a new body, one that was not defiled against her will, and one that was her preferred sex. Intrigued because if she decided to go this route then who would she be swearing loyalty to? And after her oath, just how much time would be stolen from them in order for her to fulfill her duties. What duties would this mysterious person even demand of her?

"I never said that this is what I have chosen to do. I said that it is promising. I also know that 99% of familiars are animals that find their human companion and over time are granted a human form. I mean if it is possible for an animal to gain a human form after swearing loyalty, cannot the opposite also be true?"

"You would need to swear loyalty to someone with immense power to be granted the power to shapeshift, and to be granted the power you speak of you would have to find someone even more powerful than that."

"I know."

"We demons are quite powerful, but nowhere close to being as powerful as you need. You would need someone with the powers of a God."

"Your mother met a Goddess, can we visit and ask her where her temple was? Even if the Goddess cannot help us, I can at least make an offering of thanks for making a way for both of my soulmates to be born."

"That sounds doable." Manny said walking in. "We haven't seen our parents in a while, and I am sure they would love to meet you. I am not letting you meet our father after what he did in your past lifetimes with that damn curse, but I am sure there would be no problem with meeting our mothers."

"Really?" She squealed in excitement, "Awesome, when can we go?"

"We can go tomorrow, if that is fine with you two are free." They both nodded. "That is an interesting book, where did you find this Sal?"

"I didn't, I thought you did."

"Maybe I did.

After everyone had gone to bed, Saggun thought it was time to pay that Tiffany bitch a visit. Physically he did not have to leave, his body was very comfortable with Tagronoth's arms wrapped around him. Demons are taught how to enter the dream realm from a young age. At first it was taught to view the memoirs of others before the truth spell was created. Now it is used to torture victims to an unfathomable degree.

"This is a shitty motel." He thought, "Why would anybody want to dream of being at a shitty hotel? Usually people dream big of the things they can't afford. But this is just sad."

He continued to walk to the room his spirit was drawn to.

"Well, well, well." He said, "Not as righteous, as you claim to be are you?"
