I quickly hurried away from the room and decided to wait for the girl. Curiosity was killing me.

She rounded the corner, right into me. What a klutz.

“Mystical.” She breathed.

I stared at her in utter confusement until she rounded another corner. I followed her hesitantly, and curiosity soon became surprise when I noted they placed her in the room next to mine.

Unsure of what to do, I abandoned my usual hangout in the corner of the hall and entered my room.  The rooms in Hell each had a single window on the door for nurses to peak through, and a theme of white. White bed, white dresser, white walls, etcetera. Rebellious witch that I am, I had stolen paint from our art room and decorated my bathroom with silver and black and had decorated all my furniture in various darker colors except for the bed. Also, my room sported something the others did not have; a crack in the wall connecting to the new girl’s room. The crack was large enough to spy through, and I planned on doing much of that to find out why we had a new girl. Unsure of what else to do, I opened the desk drawer and began drawing.

Drawing, now that was the one thing I could actually enjoy in this hell hole, it calmed me down and transported me to another world; one where I was not spurned, one where I was the creator. A life-bringer and not a death-seer.

A hand appeared in my view, the hand of one of the many dead I saw. I looked up and saw Autumn smiling at me.

I gave a genuine smile, something reserved only for her. “How have you been?”

Dead. She ‘said’, with a silent laugh.

The thing about her ‘speaking’ is that it was just a series of hand gestures. It had taken me some time, but she had eventually taught them all to me. I was unsure if it was real sign-language or just signs she invented when she realized I could not hear her.

“Very funny,” I grumbled. “So, what-” I stopped, noticing that Autumn was pointing to the crack in the wall. I looked and, sure enough, I saw the eye of my neighbor spying on me.

I simply sat there, unreacting, until her eye left the crack.

Then, surprise of surprises, she entered my room!

She’s curious about the witch. All the others are. But unlike all the others, she’s brave enough to approach me…

She held out her hand, “Hi, I’m Audri.”

I simply stared at it, but Autumn was staring at her too. Audri slowly lowered her hand and started leaving.

“We don’t get new people in Hell.” I stated plainly.

She rushed back over and started ranting. “Is that where we are? If not, where are we? I don’t remember anything except a bright light and POOF! I was here! I hardly remember my parents and all…”

God, maybe she was crazy. Some of the people here were, but many of us were here for our ‘hallucinations’. I decided on trying a friendly approach on Miss Crazy, I wasn’t sure how else to tackle the situation. Even if ‘friendly’ wasn’t exactly my style. “Whoa, whoa, New Girl! You sound like you’re a hyped up kinder gardener who was offered a juice box!”

I knew I had tried the right approach, for Crazy smiled at me. So I decided to try a chuckle, although the sound seemed faked in my ears. “I’m Jezleen.” I introduced myself with a smile.

She sighed. “It’s nice to meet you Jezleen! Can you PLEASE tell me what’s going on?”

I shrugged. “This is an asylum for the critically insane. No one knows how we got here.” I then decided to find out if she really was Miss Crazy or if she was one of us. “But uh..” I leaned in close and whispered. “Have you seen any ghosts yet?”
