Chapter 3 - Fruit Stall

The following day, Sato spent some time reading through the file that Hayate had left behind. He was surprised to learn that his parents' last name was Lockhart, as he had always believed their last name to be Shin. However, he initially dismissed the file as unrelated to his parents due to the different surnames. But everything changed when he stumbled upon a photo of his parents holding him shortly after his birth. It was like his whole world had crumbled down around him. Just then, his alarm went off, reminding him of his meeting with Madam M. Sato quickly changed into his uniform and began walking towards her office, which was about 15 minutes away from his room. The SSS base headquarters were massive, spanning a vast area of land. It consisted of two 20-story administrative buildings, six 10-story buildings for employee and student accommodations, and five 6-story academic buildings catering to all ranks.

As he walked towards the administrative building's main door, an automated robot greeted him and opened it. Upon entering, he proceeded towards Belle. Before he could mention the appointment, she informed him that Madam M was prepared to meet him in her 20th-floor office in Building A. He nodded in acknowledgement and made his way there. While riding the elevator, he couldn't help but ponder the possibility of his parents not being who he thought they were. When he arrived on the 20th floor, he knocked on her door and was permitted to enter.

"Good morning, madam."

"You can just call me Maddy. Alright, let's get down to business. Here is the device that allows you to communicate with me telepathically. It's a chip that will be stuck to the back of your neck."

Sato takes the chip from her hand and sticks it on his neck. He was greeted by a slight shock when he stuck it on for the first time. Everything seemed fine until he started hearing Madam M's voice in his head. Using the device at first was confusing for him, but after trying to communicate with his mind, he slowly got the hang of it. He told Madam M through telepathy that he was ready for his assignment. 

"Very well. Sato, your assignment for today is to meet with the sisters, Hestia and Hera. They both run a fruit stall selling fruit juices, cut fruit, and other fruit-related dishes. They have requested to be affiliated with us here at SSS and wish to help those in need. Your job is to talk to them and learn more about their background. Get a feel about who they are, buy their dishes to test them, ask where they source their ingredients, etc. The basic stuff. Can you do that for today?"

"Yes, ma'am, I can do that. Is there anything else that is required of me before I leave?"

"Hmm, not really, no. If you've got your gear and equipment, then you should be all set to go. If not, head down to the armoury to get your stuff. And good luck. I heard that those sisters are quite famous and popular. See if you can find time to talk to them."

"Noted, will do."

With a nod, Sato leaves Madam M's office and heads off. He takes his assigned company's personnel vehicle to the fruit stall about 30 minutes away. Madam M has designated him the Ulyssese Deluxe+ as his daily vehicle. The car has space to store all necessary gear and ride comfortably. He was taken aback when he reached his destination as the fruit stall was in a massive indoor market. He made his way to the fruit stall. Their stall was located at the back of the market, so Sato had to find his way to the back. Upon reaching, he was greeted by Hera.

"Good morning! Are you with SSS?"

"How did you know?"

"Oh, Hera and I were informed that someone from SSS would be coming to meet us this morning. Said he will be wearing his casual uniform."

"Ah, okay. Good morning to both of you. I am Sato from SSS, representing Madam M in today's meeting. Do you have time now? Or would it be more convenient if I returned later?"
