Chapter 5 After Dark

I really love this chapter, I don't see many fanfics where Toni is being vulnerable and talking about her past, and I think this is important you get to learn more about Toni as a person and the stuff she's been through. I will also be writing about Cheryl's past too and her family issues will come into play. As I've said you will be getting some angst. Sorry (not sorry)

Cheryl couldn't express how freeing it felt riding on the back of Toni's bike, she had her arms wrapped around the smaller girl and she looked ahead at all the pretty lights coming into view, time felt like it had slowed down even though they were going fast. She felt so safe with Toni she would never have agreed to this if it was anyone but Toni asking. She was curious as to where the brunette was taking her, after a few more minutes Cheryl felt the motorbike coming to a slow stop and she knew exactly where Toni had taken her. They were in the mountains which hid behind some trees they had a pretty view of Riverdale. Toni jumped off her bike and held her hand out for the redhead to hold and soon enough Cheryl's feet were touching the ground. "This is so beautiful Toni" Cheryl heard herself say as she looked over at the view of Riverdale, the town was small, yes but honestly from this distance, it looked huge. "I always come here whenever I need to get away from the stress of school or the town itself, it always gives me a sense of peace and I wanted to share it with you Toni heard herself say, her tone was shy and quiet she didn't understand why but she just felt like she could open up to Cheryl and that she could trust her, it was foreign and scary yet it didn't stop her.

"My grandpa use to bring me here every week until he got sick and now I feel like I don't know him anymore" Cheryl heard the emotions in the brunette tone and it broke her heart. Toni hadn't really told Cheryl much about her family, but to be honest, Cheryl hadn't really told Toni much about her family either, maybe this was a sign to open up as well.

"He's been in and out of hospital for a while now, the doctors think it's cancer but considering they found it quite late it doesn't look like much treatment will help, so it's just a waiting game I guess" Toni explained taking a seat on the ground and looking out at the lights that lit up Riverdale. "I'm so sorry Toni, I can't even begin to imagine how hard it's been for you" Cheryl took a seat beside the brunette and pulled her close holding her protectively. Toni leaned her head on the redhead's shoulder before she spoke again,

"Since my Grandpa is on bed rest my Nan has been treating me like crap, I don't know if it's because she is worried about losing her husband or because she has always hated me. It was so obvious that my Grandpa loved me he would spend time with me he taught me to ride bikes and he always made time for me you know.. and whenever my Nan would get mad at me my Grandpa always defended me, in his eyes it didn't matter who I was or who I loved he just loved me for me and nothing could change that... and now he is different he is quiet and timid so now my Nan is doing everything in her power to take her bullshit out on me because now my Grandpa isn't protecting me and I don't know why" Toni felt her eyes tear up and a single tear fell down her cheek. Cheryl slowly reached out and held Toni's face in her hand wiping away the tears and holding her closer before she spoke. "I'm so sorry my love, that isn't right at all you don't deserve that okay? Where are your parents, shouldn't they be there for you" Cheryl heard herself ask, she felt anger deep inside she hated the thought of anyone treating Toni like crap.

"My Dad and Mom kicked me out when they found me getting close with our neighbor and told me they wouldn't accept this behavior in their home, so I moved in with my grandparents, it started out good until my Grandpa got sick and then my Nan basically hinted she wanted me to leave so I did and I moved in with Jughead" Toni held one of Cheryl's hands in hers "Jughead seems like a good friend" Cheryl wanted to support Toni the best she could but she wasn't always good at comforting people considering in her house when your upset you deal with it yourself, so Cheryl just placed a soft kiss onto Toni's cheek.

Toni wanted to feel closer to Cheryl so she pulled away and decided to sit in Cheryl's lap facing her with a small smile on her face, it felt good to have someone she could trust finally and someone she felt so safe with and she was falling hard for the beautiful redhead looking up at her with those soft and comforting eyes. She felt herself getting lost in Cheryl's brown eyes and before she could stop herself she kissed Cheryl she poured all her emotions into that kiss it was passionate but not in a sexual way in a much deeper emotional way, and of course Cheryl kissed her back pulling the smaller woman as close as she could to her. She could kiss Toni forever but it was getting late and though she didn't want to leave she knew if she didn't her parents would lose their shit on her and Cheryl didn't want to deal with that so as much as it pained her she pulled away from Toni.

"Oh shit did I do something wrong?!" Toni exclaimed, fuck she thought to herself, she was so scared that she just ruined it by being a needy mess. Cheryl instantly noticed the change in Toni's body language she pulled her in for a much shorter but still sweet kiss. "You didn't do anything wrong T.T I promise, it's just getting late and my parents are assholes and I don't want to argue with them, but I had a really lovely time and I can't wait to do this again" Cheryl replied smiling up at the brunette who was still sat on her lap. "I had a lovely time too, thank you for listening to me and my bullshit problems" Toni laughed sadly. "It wasn't bullshit I am so glad you trust me enough to open up to me and I wish I could have been more of a help" Cheryl felt the guilt deep inside of her, she hated that she had to leave the brunette. "You were amazing thank you for listening and comforting me, it means a lot" Toni smiled before pecking Cheryl's lips one last time and then standing up. "Come on babe let's get you home" Toni heard herself say and soon the two were back on Toni's bike.

Toni didn't drop Cheryl off at home because Cheryl had driven to hers so she drove up to hers and Jughead's trailer said one last goodbye and then Cheryl was on her way home. Toni already missed the redhead's touch and Cheryl felt the same way.
