Jason's POV:
I entered the room with her, my heart raced. We exchanged glances, and she reassured me with a simple, "Don't be scared. We'll be okay." It was as if she could read my thoughts, a mysterious connection forming between us.
But where was her family? The question nagged at the back of my mind, distracting me from the moment. Sensing my look of despair, she answered, "It's Natasha Petrakis. From Faithwills." Wow... She could actually read minds!
"Faithwills? I've never heard of it!" I said. "Just like me," she said, winking.
Huh?
"I mean, me not knowing about your place too," she added, realizing that I didn't get her.
We settled on sleeping arrangements, her on the couch and me in the bedroom. She raised an eyebrow, seeking my approval. I was about to object, but then she suddenly asks, "You've never heard of me?" Confusion filled my mind. How could I have known about her existence? "No," I replied honestly.
She seemed determined to make me remember, her gaze hardening. "Not even once? Surely the name doesn't ring any bells?" she asked again. I was taken aback. How could I possibly know about her? What was she getting at?
Before I could respond, she interrupted me, bursting with excitement. "I thought it might've been in the papers and all. Oh my goodness! Do you wanna hear a story?"
As I settled onto the couch, the creaking of the old wood echoed through the eerie silence of the room. Natasha sat across from me, her eyes filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. It was as if she had been waiting for this moment, eager to share her story.
I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees, and clasped my hands together. "Sure, I'm all ears," I replied, my voice filled with curiosity.
