I get up in the morning and grab my grandma's ring that she had asked me to sell to help cover her medical bills. She has breast cancer and is stage 4, and my parents begged her for treatment. The treatment costs $97,066, which is more than any of us have. Her ring is worth about 75 grand, which is why she wants me to sell it.
I got dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants before walking out of the house and started heading towards the pawn shop. I was holding the ring and examining it. Once I got into the pawn shop I handed the man the ring and he offered 80 grand for it. I agree, as soon as he hands me the check I accidentally elbow someone. I look back to see an officer standing there.
"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to elbow you miss," I state before hurrying out of the pawn shop. Once I get home I see my parents crying. That's when I learned my grandma died last night, she was supposed to start treatment today. I breakdown, what am I supposed to do with the money now?
Me and my partner Officer Quinn were supervising an area where a lot of stealing had been happening. I see a boy in a black hoodie. His hood was up, he was holding a ring that looked more than someone could afford in this area. Where did he get that ring? We get out and follow him to a pawn shop, did he steal this ring and is now trying to sell it?
We hear him talking to the shop owner, but he never mentions where he got the ring. The owner offers 80 grand for it and he accepts the offer. Before I knew it he elbowed Officer Quinn right in the stomach, which she was 3 months pregnant. He quickly apologizes before hurrying out of the store. I turn to Quinn who throws up and I see blood in her pants. I grab my com to call for an ambulance.
"10-00, 10-29, 10-31, 10-45c, 10-52, 10-54." I state all codes needed for the current situation.
The shop owner sits her down and gets her water. I get replies that back-up is coming. Once she gets put into the ambulance I follow them and wait for her in the waiting room while trying to figure out who the boy was. The doctor enters the room and comes up to me.
"Officer Anderson?" They ask me I stand up.
"Are they okay?" I ask worrying about my partner and her baby.
"I am sadden to inform you that the baby did not make it. Quinn will be fine, but the blow to the stomach was too much for the baby." The doctor informs me. That boy is a murder, I need to figure out who he is and get a warrant for his arrest as soon as possible.
