Daya and Bosco have broken up, and after a few days, Bosco comes to get her stuff from Daya's apartment. But both are having a lot of regrets.
----It all started when Bosco made the comment about Daya never having any time for her. She was always working or rehearsing with her band. Bosco didn't feel very important or like a priority at all.
And it all escalated from there. Daya brought up that Bosco never made time for her either. She was always busy with other friends when Daya finally had time to spare. Things that both girls didn't mean were said. Feelings were hurt. And a lot of tears were shed. When Bosco stepped out of the apartment that night, she didn't want to go back.
But she had to. Because a few days later, she had to go get her stuff that had been left behind and give Daya back the spare key.
She didn't know how she was holding it together. Her grip on the wheel of the car was so tight her nails were leaving marks, and her eyes were glossy with tears that were threatening to spill. But she refused to let them. She didn't want to cry anymore. All it did was remind her that she didn't want this. She wanted Daya.
And Daya was much the same. Her nights were restless without Bosco. When she did manage to sleep, her dreams were filled with her. And all she got was disappointment when she woke up and she wasn't there. She knew she had made mistakes. She knew this breakup was partly her fault. But she didn't think she could do this.
Daya quickly dried her tears when there was quiet knocking on the door. She took a shaky breath to collect herself. She didn't want Bosco to know she had been crying. But it was probably very obvious.
When she opened the door, she was met by the smaller girl looking down at the floor with her arms wrapped around herself. It was silent between them, both not knowing what to say. Daya forced herself to speak first.
"Hey..." She whispered, her voice cracking slightly.
Bosco shifted, glancing up at her. "Hey..." She responded quietly. "I'm um...here for my stuff."
Daya moved so she could enter. "I found a box you can use. But I didn't touch any of it. I didn't know if you'd like that..."
Bosco just shrugged. She didn't look up at her as she walked in. She knew it'd hurt too much. Instead she kept her head low and headed straight for the bedroom she was so used to sleeping in. She was almost always at Daya's apartment. So much so her roommates had asked her why she hadn't just moved in with her yet.
It looked like she already lived there. Her perfume bottles and makeup bag sat on Daya's desk right where she left them, her clothes were scattered around, a few of her stuffed animals were on the bed, and she knew there was probably a ton of other things hidden that she couldn't see. She sighed. This was going to be a long process.
She took the box that Daya had set on the bed and started to get to work. Her hands were shaky as she loaded the perfume bottles into it. She hesitated when getting to the one Daya always seemed to like the most. She couldn't do it. She left it and grabbed another instead.
Daya watched from the doorway, her heart shattering more and more every time Bosco placed an item into the box. But she couldn't stop her. "Do you um...need help?"
Bosco froze, finally turning to look at her. Daya flinched when seeing the tears running down her face.
The smaller girl sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "I think I have some stuff in your bathroom." She whispered.
Daya nodded a little. She left her alone and went to the bathroom to grab the stuff she had specifically for Bosco. It looked like two people lived there. A towel for Bosco was still hanging on the rack, her shampoo and conditioner were still in the shower, and even a toothbrush was still sitting there for her. It was just as much her space as it was Daya's.
