the room is falling as they are all freaking out. they are all screaming and dustin is trying to click buttons. "kayla! shit!" robin says seeing kayla absolutely freaking out. "we are literally gonna die!" kayla yells. "press the buttons!" erica yells. "i am!" dustin yells back. suddenly the room stops falling, dustin and erica fall down next to each other. robin falls next to the rack of boxes, steve falls next to the table, and as kayla falls her head hits into the railing behind her.

"is everyone okay?" robin asks. "yeah i'm great now that i know that russians can't design elevators!" steve yells standing up. kayla stands up with help from erica. she rubs the back of her head and feels some bruising and when she pulls her hand away she sees a little bit of blood on her hand. "robin, this might be a problem." kayla says showing her bloody hand. "shit. where is that coming from?" robin asks looking at her hand. "my head." kayla says wincing. "shit. here." steve says holding his bandana on her head. "this is definitely a concussion." kayla says leaning against the wall with steve's hand holding the back of her head. "how do you know?" robin asks. "i got hit in the head with a bat in 6th grade. not fun at all." kayla answers. "well how do we get out so we can get kayla to a doctor?" steve asks.

"guys what if we climb out?" dustin says pointing up. dustin opens the small door at the top of the elevator and climbs out. "yeah um forget i said climbing." dustin says looking up to see they are very very far from the top.

steve looks at kayla to see her zoning out, he waves his hand in front of her face and she doesn't move. "kay, are you alright?" he says making her look at him. "yeah just thinking." she responds. "i'm all ears." he says sitting next to her. "i just really wanna get out of here. god i wish hopper would find us. he's more of a dad than any father figure i've had. billy's father is just horrible and he gave that to billy." she says. "yeah billy is pretty terrible." steve agrees. "yeah but when we were little he wasn't that bad. he would always protect me from everything his father would say. as we got older we kind of drifted but he was still there for me. he walked in on me crying once and sat with me until i could form words and we talked until we fell asleep. max saved me too more than anyone. she was there for me at my lowest and i basically raised her. i love max with everything i have and i gotta be honest, billy will always have a place in my heart, at least the soft billy." she says sighing. "kay that's really sweet. i wish i had siblings but you know robins kinda like a sister." he says looking at her. "come here." he says pulling her into a hug and she instantly relaxes.

"does anyone copy? this is a code red. i repeat a code red. we are innocent children trapped under starcourt mall. the red army has infiltrated hawkins and if we are found they will torture and kill us. does anyone copy?" dustin says standing on top of the elevator. "dustin please shut the fuck up my head is throbbing." kayla says sitting on the floor of the elevator leaning against the wall trying to keep her eyes open. "kayla do not fall asleep. if you have a concussion and you fall asleep you will not wake up." robin says. steve is on the roof, letting his bladder out. "we've got company." robin says which makes dustin help erica and robin up the elevator to the top. steve helps kayla up being careful of her head. "okay your head stopped bleeding but there is major bruising." robin whispers looking at her head. "yup i feel it now shush." kayla whispers.

the russians are inside the elevator taking some boxes. steve puts his finger to his lips which makes everyone go silent. they hear the russians leave and as the door is closing steve jumps down and puts the bottle of liquid between the door and the floor holding it open. robin, dustin and erica slide under and kayla makes steve go before her. kayla slides under and right as it is about the close steve grabs her hands pulling her under it making the bottle shatter. "jesus christ." steve says looking at the liquid which burned holes into the floor. steve helps kayla stand up as she holds her head from the throbbing pain she is in.

"holy mother of god." dustin says which makes everyone turn around to see an extremely long hallway. "well i hope you guys are in good shape. looking at you roast beef." steve says as he starts to walk grabbing kayla's hand. she walks next to steve with her hand in his, "this is gonna be fucking torture." she says rolling her eyes.

the scoops troop has been walking for a while now. "i mean you have to admit, as a feat of engineering alone, this is impressive." dustin says. "what are you talking about? this is a total fire hazard. there's no stairs or exit. there's just an elevator that drops you halfway to hell." steve says. "they're commies. you don't pay people, they cut corners." erica says rolling her eyes. "to be fair i don't think this tunnel was designed for walking." robin says.

"steve i don't feel so good." kayla says dropping his hand as her body starts to go weak. steve grabs her holding her steady. "kayla. look at me." dustin says looking at her pupils. "one pupil is bigger. the concussion theory was right." he says. "what do we do?" robin says. steve makes sure kayla is steady before bending down in front of her facing the hallway. "go on my back." steve says. "what if she falls off your back? huh?" dustin says. "just hold her the other way." robin says. "okay come here." steve says as he scoops up kayla bridal style as they continue walking.

"if the russians were building something, why here? i mean hawkins of all places." robin says walking next to erica as steve and dustin slow down. steve puts kayla down to talk to her and dustin. "you think the russians know?" dustin says. "so it's connected?" steve whispers. "how?" kayla says rubbing her eyes. "i don't know but it's." dustin says. "possible." the three teens say.

"i'm sorry is there something you would like to share with the class?" robin says turning around. steve, dustin, and kayla just look at each other. they hear russians voices ringing through the walkie as dustin, steve and kayla walk over to the radio in erica's bag. the russian communication starts to echo through the radio. "the code." robin says. "wherever the broadcast is coming from." dustin says. "it's close." kayla says. "and if there's one thing we know about that signal." robin says. "it can reach the surface." kayla finishes. "let's go." steve says getting up and holding kayla's hand as everyone else gets up and follows them.

"okay clear." steve says leading the group down the hallway. "that was too close." robin says. "relax. nobody saw-" steve says turning the corner and seeing a bunch of people and machines. "shit! jesus!" steve says as everyone hides behind a box. "red dawn." dustin says. "i saw it. first floor northwest." erica whispers. "saw what?" kayla asks. "the comms room. the door was opened for a second and i saw a bunch of lights and machines and shit in there." erica whispers. "that could be a hundred different things." kayla says annoyed. "i'll take those odds." robin says. steve sighs as they all look at the room in front of them. "all right. we're gonna move fast, we're gonna stay low. okay?" steve says. "okay." kayla answers following steve as he gets up and ducks and runs as they all try and travel to the room erica saw.

a man exits the room and the door is about to swing closed before steve grabs the door and lets everyone in. when they turn around they see a guard sitting down. the guard stands up and goes to grab his gun. robin starts to talk to him in russian and he talks back. steve yells as he runs lunging himself at the guard. the guard throws steve off of him and throws him onto a table. steve grabs a phone and hits the russian in the head knocking him out.

steve catches his breath and fixes his hair looking at the guard on the floor. "dude. you did it! you won a fight!" dustin says proudly. "don't ever do that again." kayla says quickly wrapping her arms around his neck giving him a hug relieved that he is not hurt. steve hugs her back wrapping his arms around her waist. "even though i'm mad at you that was kinda hot though." she whispers before pulling away from the hug and stepping back. steve looks at her with a grin on his face.

"what are you doing?" erica asks. "getting us out ticket out of here." dustin says grabbing the keycard from the guards belt. "you want to walk all the way back?" erica asks. robin walk up the stairs and sees a bunch of flashing. "guys. there's something up there." robin says making everyone go up the stairs. which takes them to a room and they see a machine pointing at a hole in the wall.
