[Unedited]
I walked down the hallway of my new school as quickly as I could. I was fifteen minutes late for my Math class. Not quite the first impression I wanted to make.
I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.
I rounded a next corridor and suddenly I saw it, room 101. I pushed the door open and all eyes turned towards me.
"Oh, you must be the new student," the teacher said to me. I shifted uncomfortably on my feet because of all the eyes on me. I felt like a specimen under a microscope.
I turned my gaze to the teacher who was waiting for my response. But before I could speak, she spoke again. "You're Chloe, right?"
"Ah, yes I am." I replied, nervously.
"Who's the hottie?" I heard someone ask in the background, along with some other comments I couldn't really make out.
"Ok class," the teacher said silencing everyone, "this is our new student and she'll be introducing herself to you. Go ahead sweetie."
You've got to be kidding me. What the heck am I supposed to say?
"OK, my name is Chloe Mitchell, I moved here from New York but I was born here in Los Angeles. I love dancing and...ahh...well that's about it."
"Ok," the teacher said turning from the board to face the class, "does anyone have any questions they wish to ask Chloe?"
Immediately almost all the guys' hands shot up, along with a few girls. One guy in particular in the back, seemed extremely anxious to ask his question, but I knew it was just a front to get picked first. Ms. Collins- I knew the teacher's name now from a paper on her desk- seemed to notice this too because I saw her slightly roll her eyes and said," Go ahead Chase."
" What'd you say you come over to my place and I show a couple of moves, if you know what I mean?" He bit his lip and winked at me. I would be lying if I said that that wasn't sexy as hell but the question he asked completely turned me off.
Ugh, disgusting. I already find him annoying.
"Chase!" Miss Collins yelled.
"What? You said any questions." He shrugged."I'm sorry, let me rephrase," she said through clenched teeth, clearly annoyed. She cleared her throat before speaking again, "Are there any relevant questions you wish to ask?"
"What turns you on?" A guy with dark, low-cut hair and hazel eyes blurted. He was kind of cute but I guess it would be so, seeing that he was a jock. I knew because he had on one of those jackets only the boys on the football team wore. But why did he have to be one of those stereotypical, arrogant, self-centered, jerk jocks.
The entire class bursted out laughing at his question and he earned a few fist bumps and high-fives from the other jocks. Chase who wasn't one of the jocks but still a friend of his, seemed really humored by it.
"Definitely not you," I deadpanned. That wiped the smirk off his face almost instantly.
"Ohhhh..." The class said in unison before they started laughing at him rather than with him. He sank in his chair with a frown, "Whatever..."
I smiled, totally pleased with my work.
"Ok, I think that's enough questions for today." I could hear the smile in Ms. Collins' voice. She then showed me to my seat. It was four rows down, next to the window. It would have been the perfect seat if Chase wasn't sitting directly behind me.
He gave me a small smirk as I sat down and I couldn't help rolling my eyes when he caught me looking at him and winked at me.
Moments after Ms. Collins started her lesson he leaned forward and whispered, "I think we're going to be great friends."
I felt thrills running through my body when he spoke these words and his warm breath hit the back of my neck. I tried my best not to shiver and held back a gasp. I was surprised at the effect he had on my body simply because of his proximity."Don't count on it," I replied, trying my best to sound relaxed. He gave a slight chuckle before he leaned back in his seat.
"We'll see."
For the rest of the class he said nothing else to me and that caused my body to relax again.
When class was over, I packed my books as quickly as possible to avoid having a conversation with anyone, especially Chase. I guess I wasn't fast enough because just as I had gotten up, a girl stepped up to me. She was as tall as I was, had strawberry blonde hair, brown eyes, small pink lips and flawless skin.
Seriously, who has skin like that. Oh wait, sorry my mistake, it's just all that make up she has on.
She was wearing a pink tank top with a matching Prada bag, white miniskirt and silver pumps. Two girls stood behind her, a blonde and a brunette.
She's definitely popular.
"Hi, I'm Allison," She said with a huge grin. I slightly cringed at her voice. It was high pitched and nasal."And this is Kaitlin "-the blonde-"and Mindy."-the brunette.
I gave her my best fake smile,"Hey, I'm Chloe. "
OK, why the hell is she talking to me.
Back at my old school, whenever the popular girls spoke to me, it was because they either wanted something or was up to something. Both of which got me in deep shit. I seriously didn't want that to happen here too.
"OMG! Where'd you get those shoes?" She gasped, enthusiastically.
"These?" I looked down at my shoes as if it's the first I've seen them. They were black ballet shoes, with sparkly crystals close to the toes. They were expensive but they weren't all that pretty for her to react like that. "My mom got them for me when we were in New York."
"Really? My mom never buys me stuff. I have to practically go on my knees to borrow my own credit card."
They all laughed at her statement and I joined with my fake laugh. Seriously, I was the best actress.
When our laughing subsided or rather their laughing, Mindy whispered something to Allison."Well I guess I have to go now. See you around." She said before she sashayed out with her disciples.
Allison seemed nice towards me but I knew her friends didn't like me. They kept giving me disgusted stares all the way through our 'little convo'. Honestly, I could care less. That's a thing about me, I didn't give a shit about what people thought or said about me.
*Bell rings*
Shit, now I'm going to be late for yet another class.
