"Chloe...Chloe... " I heard a familiar voice call in the distance. My whole world quaked and then everything went dark and still. "Chloe! Get your lazy ass up!" the voice belonged to Madison. She shook me again this time harder.

I stirred in my sleep, wrapping the duvet tighter around me. "Five more minutes," I mumbled, hoping they'd just leave me to my own devices. That didn't happen.

"No, Chloe we have a party to get to. You have to get up." Madison whined.

"Maddy let her be," that was Jade. I mentally thanked her. She was such an angel..."I reckon she wants to do the Ice Bucket Challenge in bed. I'm going downstairs for a bucket and some iced water. " I take that back. She was the devil's spawn.

I shot up immediately at that, definitely not wanting to wear a coat of freezing cold water. "I'm up! I'm up! God, can't a girl get any sleep around here."

"Actually no, 'cause this girl has a party to get here ass to," Jade untangled me from the duvet. "c'mon up you go."

"Oh Chloe, have you been crying?" Madison asked, worriedly.

I glanced in the vanity mirror, and sure enough my face showed signs of crying. My eyes were bloodshot, puffy and my cheeks were stained by tears. I'd bawled my eyes out after Josh hung up and I guess I ended up crying myself to sleep. I was a mess. Officially breaking up with your first love tends to have that effect.

Madison and Jade padded over to me, their expressions laced with genuine concern. It was an expression I'd thought I'd never see from my friends again once I'd left New York. I'd thought I'd never have friends again who would genuinely care about me. Madison and Jade sure proved me wrong. That brought tears to my eyes.

Here comes the waterworks. When did you become so emotional, Chloe?

"What happened?" they both sat at my sides, pushing tendrils of stray hair out my face.

"I officially broke things off with my ex. But don't worry I'm fine now." nevertheless, they both hugged me and muttered comforting words. I struggled to keep my tears at bay. "Okay guys, let's cut the chick flick moment short before I start crying again. Don't we have a party to get to?"

They released me, smiling. " You sure you're okay?" Maddy asked, I nodded.

Jade got up and strided over to my walk-in closet. "Well everyone knows that the best way to get over an old guy is to get a new one," she pulled out a skin-tight, forest green ribbed shift dress. It reached me mid-thigh the last time I'd tried it on. My mom had the habit of buying me slutty looking dresses and I had the habit of throwing them into the deepest, darkest corners of my closet, never allowing them to see the light of day. "and honey, we're going to find you the hottest rebound in the history of rebounds!" Jade finished, enthused.

I shook my head more times than necessary, "I'm not wearing that. "

Jade furrowed her brow, "Why not?"

Well for one: it's too slutty for my taste and it isn't me and two: that was a dress Chase would definitely be proud of. No doubt he's going to think that I wore the dress for him. So the dress is a definite no-no. Even so, I didn't tell them point number two. It would bring up way too many questions about what was going on between Chase and I - which was nothing, by the way. But I knew they wouldn't buy that.
