Chapter 22

(Yang, Weiss, and Neo)

Yang, Neo, and their Y/N are outside of one of the tents where the rest of the tribe have parked their vehicles as Yang managed to set up a little vehicle repair bay for herself with some tools brought by Neo and Y/N. Yang is hard at work on repairing Bumblebee, wiping a smudge of grease off her cheek and slams her wrench against the frame.

Yang: ("Damn it, I just had this in top shape a month ago.")

During this, the bowler hat-wearing Neo is laying her stomach on Bumblebee with her legs on the air, swinging back and forth as she uses sign language to explain what happened at Raven's yurt to Y/N.

Y/N #4: "Wow, so it was a complete mess. Heh, not surprised since it's Raven, thinking she has control over the conversation."

The mute girl nod to this as she continues signing. 

Neo: "When Raven mentioned me... I was kind of... scared."

Y/N #4: "Eh, can't blame you. I got attacked by her when I was younger. I would tell you to ask Yang about it but..."

The two turn to look at Yang as she's in the middle of fixing Bumblebee with a wrench in hand. The mute girl then turns to Y/N before signing her question.

Neo: "When you were younger?"

Y/N goes to explain his first ever encounter with Raven and how she almost killed him if it weren't for his mentor stopping her. Absorbing this information, the mute girl comments via signing. 

Neo: "I... I never knew that."

Y/N #4: "Well, it's something I told Yang and her dad before we meet again, and you took rehab classes with us."

Neo: "Right."

The mute girl then points at something which Y/N follows. 

Y/N #4: "Hm?"

What he discovers is that tribe members who manage the tribe's vehicles, some of whom were even part of the chase with them, glared at them from their spot, keeping a watchful eye on them. In response to this, Y/N blink his eyes, turning them crimson red as he gives them his own glare. Somewhat surprised by this, the tribe members shift their gaze back to fixing their own vehicles or just leaving to their tents entirely. With a short sigh, Y/N's eyes revert back to normal before turning back to Neo and Yang. Once he does, he immediately sees the cheeky smirk on Neo's face as she signs a remark.

Neo: "So protective~"

Unamused by her signing, Y/N retorts back. 

Y/N #4: "It's call making sure they mind their own business, Neo."

With a quiet giggle, Neo signs once more. 

Neo: "Whatever you say."

Rolling his eyes at her grin, Y/N goes to change the subject. 

Y/N #4: "Anyway, the sooner we get Bumblebee fixed, the better. Don't want these bandits keep staring at us. So, anything I can help with, Yang?"

Yang: "Yeah, just move the toolbox out of the oil puddle underneath it, that's all."

With a nod, Y/N pick up the toolbox beside Yang's left side and move it to her right side. 

Yang: "Thanks." 

In the distance, Y/N can hear a pair of familiar voices and a bunch of footsteps approaching them. 

Weiss: "Don't worry, Vernal. Yang isn't that bad once you get to know her and what she says about Raven is between the two of them. None of it reflects on you, right Y/N?"
