Start of a new year

Mayas P.O.V

School sucks. It has always sucked. But nothing sucks more then the first day back from Summer Vacation. First summers over so no sleeping in and I have to deal with crowded hallways. I'm about to hop in the car when I get a text from Lucas.
To: Maya From Lucas
Hey, my car broke down can you maybe pick me up?
To: Lucas From: Maya
Sure thing Ranger Rick ;)

Lucas doesn't live to far way from the school. I pull up to the curb and he hops in quickly since we are already late for class. "do you know your classes yet?" He asks me. "No I need to pick them up from the school when we get there." I tell him. "Same,hopefully we have some together" he turns and smiles at me. I just stare at him and smile back. We pul into the parking lot and we end up going separate ways.

I go to the office and collect my courses. Great Math and Science my two worst subjects both in the same semester. I leave the office and look for Riley. I scan the crowded area an find her talking, or should I say flirting with a bunch pf guys,including Lucas. Riley has changed a lot in the last year,shes all boy crazy now. It used to be just for Lucas but now its for every guy. I guess thats part of growing up though. I look at the people she is talking to and decide to walk away, no one there except for Riley and Lucas are huge fans of me. "Maya wait up!' I hear a voice calling and turn to see Lucas walking toward me. "Why didn't you come over and talk to everyone?" He asks me. I look at him nervously "I don't think anyone there likes me very much" I tell him. "I like you, Riley likes you" He assures me. "I love Riley but I think she would ignore me with all those guys around" "well then I like you" he smiles. I smile back. We stand there in silent when the bell rings. "What class do you have first?" I ask. "Math, with Mrs. Ambell' He replies. "So do I" We walk to math class together and sit down in the back of the room next to eachother. Mrs. Ambell walks in and explains that we will be having assigned seats. I look at Lucas for a brief second and he looks at me almost upset. I ended sitting next to a empty desk . Lucas ended up right behind me.

We start writing down notes when a very,very cute guy walks in and talks to Mrs. Ambell. She looks around the room and then points in my direction. He smiles and walks towards me and sits down. "Hi I'm Josh" "I'm Maya" I smile at him and think something good actually happened in math class.

Its the first day of school and theres already a dance coming up. Its finally lunch and every single conversation I come across is about who people want to take to the dance. I'll probably end up going with Riley.
