Levi's POV

As much as I support Hanji and her days of overtime at her new job, I hate that she's always busy and forgetting our plans. One time, we were supposed to leave for our anniversary date, and when I finally got Hanji on the phone, she said she wasn't ready to go. I spent so much money on the resort I was taking her to. I couldn't get a refund because I canceled it too late.

The clock was ticking close to 9 pm, our reservation time at this nice restaurant. I had the keys to her laboratory, but I didn't want to barge in and disturb her studies. But I was on the last strands of hope that she would be done soon. I've been waiting outside for 2 hours, texting and calling her for an answer. I never doubted her to betray my trust, so I know she's not with someone else.

"Hey, this is Hanji, I'm busy, so leave your message and I'll get back to you soon!" I can't remember how many times I've heard this message for the past 2 hours. But it was my last straw.

"Hanji, if you do not answer in 2 minutes, I will storm into your lab and drag you by your ankles. We're not missing this reservation. Do you understand, Hanji? Answer now, or I will come in." I hang up, watching a video or two for the 2 minutes to pass. When I haven't heard a word, I finally put my foot down.

As I grabbed the keys to her lab, I murmured to myself, not wanting to cancel a suitable date with my wife.

"Hanji, I swear... if you're not ready to go... I will take away your privileges of working overtime."

Storming through the doors, I made my way down to her lab. There was one elevator, which was not in use by the time I got to it. My arms were crossed over my chest as my finger tapped on my arm impatiently. The soft elevator music crept into my ears, pushing my buttons even more. How could I be so relaxed when Hanji had wasted my time?

"1 hour," I say, grumbling as the doors opened on her floor. "1 hour, and I'll be out. Bullshit. I've waited too long."

Through the glass walls, I see someone in a white lab coat hunched over a white table with lights. A little closer look, I see the figure having a dark brown, messy ponytail that's tied back with a single, black rubber band. A pair of reddish brown wired glasses sat on her face, slowly slipping down her nose. I saw the small imprints on her nose from her glasses, and I realized she needed to get new ones.

I wanted to barge through her room, but it would startle her and ruin her experiment... or whatever she was doing in there. I knocked on the glass doors, waiting to see her reaction. She finally looks up, her lips slowly turning into a smile as her eyes sparkle with joy. I could hear her heartbeat as she jumped from her place and ran to the door.

"Levi-."

"Hanji, why aren't you ready?"

"Eh?" She tilts her head, her eyes staring at the ceiling. I know that face. It's her thinking face. "Uh... why should I be ready? Levi, what are you doing here?"

"Hanji, do you remember what today is?"

"Uhhh... no?"

"Hanji, we have a date tonight."

Hanji waved her hand, giggling, "Right. I'll be ready soon. I just need to finish this quickly. Shouldn't take more than-."

"An hour?" I raised my eyebrow, pulling up her texts from earlier. "Hanji, I sent you messages over 2 hours ago. I left voicemails! You haven't picked up your phone. We're going to be late, Hanji. Drop your things, and let's leave."

"Levi, can't this date wait for a later time?"

"A later time? For what?"

"It's just a date!"

My blood boiled as she said that sentence. How could she say that? Did this four-eyed freak forget the one special day about herself? It's bad enough she missed out on our anniversary date. But I will not allow her to forget this day.

"Hanji, it's not just a date. What's today?"

"Well... September 4th."

"No."

"September 3rd?"

"No."

She continued to list days that weren't her birthday. Finally, I answered my question. "Hanji, it's September 5th. Do you remember what else happened today?" I watched Hanji's face slowly turning pale as she remembered. "Today isn't just a date. Please, Hanji, let's just go. Put it away, and let's have this date night. I just want to be yours for the night. I don't want your time to be taken up by your experiments. I want your time to be taken up by me. Is that too hard to ask?"

Hanji giggles softly, nodding her head. "Okay, if I'm not done in 3 minutes, come and get me. Force me out, if you want. Let me put it away, as it can't stay out for too long. I'll take the day off tomorrow, so you can have me all day. Why didn't you say something today? I would've called a sick day or something like that."

"Because..." I admitted with a small smile on my face, "I love seeing your smile when you're so passionate. I love you, Hanji..."

"I love you too, Levi. Thank you very much..."

Happy birthday, Hanji!
Sorry I'm a little late on her birthday one-shot, but I did it. I finally made it. A little short, but I can promise a longer one for Levi's birthday!
