Reach didn't end up being our date.
It was decided he was going to stay in the van in the hotel's parking lot. He had hacked his way in to the hotel's cameras and outlined every single room on the first fourteen floors of the hotel. Nobody was going anywhere tonight without Reach knowing it.
Earlier that day, Cam and I had broken in into the hotel. We scoped the area, studied the room where the transaction was going to happen, looked for places to hide and all the escape routes we could find.
We had also met with out client earlier. He was surprised to be dealing with teenagers, but we assured him about our abilities and pointed out that there wasn't a better cover in the midst of a school dance.
"How many escape routes are there, Cam?" I quizzed her ten minutes before we were scheduled to leave the van.
She rolled her eyes. "We already went over this Gin."
"Cam."
She let out a sigh. "Six from the dance room, three from the transaction room. Four if you count the window. Which, just so you know, I'm not using. That's one sure way of ruining this beautiful dress."
The dress did fit Cam incredibly well. It matched the color of her eyes and reached her knees. She had make-up on, but it looked natural on her face, her blue eyes especially startling.
Mine was black. Reaching just a little bit above the knees, it allowed me enough cover to sneak some shorts underneath. If it came down to a fight, at least I won't be flashing my undies to anyone any time soon. It showed more cleavage than I liked, but it would have make do. My make-up was applied much like Cam's, and I admitted that I really liked how my eyes looked like this.
Reach was having trouble looking at our faces, his eyes always trailing down. Tired of Cam teasing him, he had turned around and was staring at the screen.
"Remember, I'm going to be able to hear both of you at all times." Reach said, meaning the small communicators. "You, on the other hand, will have to press the button to be able to talk to each other. Clear?"
"Clear." We both said.
"Now, let's take a picture!" Cam passed her camera to Reach.
She hugged my waist with one arm and I did the same with mine. With an exasperated sigh, Reach raised the camera to his eye.
"Say cheese."
I didn't, but I smiled and he took a picture anyway.
"Now the three of us together!" Cam pulled Reach to his feet, positioning him between us. She turned the camera around. "Remember, no duck faces!" She pressed the button, the flash blinding me for a second time.
"Ready girls?" Reach asked, his eyes back on our legs.
I smiled. "Let's do this."
The prom had a red carpet theme, and we waited in line as the "paparazzi" took pictures of everyone walking on the red carpet. We were next.
The paparazzi called us forward. We reached the backdrop of screaming fans and Cam immediately flipped her hair back, posing for the cameras. I on the other hand, was completely stumped. Cam noticed this immediately.
"Come on Ginny!"
"Umm."
She huffed. "Just remember, you forced me to do this."
"Forced you to do what?"
"This!" she said, and attacked me.
Her fingers reached my sides and started tickling me. My laugh bubbled unexpectedly over me, and I bent forward, trying to protect my sides from Cam's fingers.
