Tonight, the most bizarre thing has happened. I do not even know where to start with the story; so many things are just running through my bewildered mind.I suppose I should start off by saying that I met someone today. Her name is (Y/n), and she comes from outside the Domain. Now, Zora from outside the Domain may not be unusual, but they surely are rare. It seems as if she wishes to move here, which as the prince, I am of course happy to hear. However, she has a... secret, one that is rather sensitive.
She cannot swim, and because of this inability, she sees herself as less than a Zora. She claimed quite matter-of-factly that she was not a real Zora because of it, which of course broke my heart. I know more than anyone how it feels when you do not match people's expectations, and it is a pain like none other. It is a mental anguish that you bottle up inside because confiding it to another is seen as a sign of weakness, especially for us Royal Zora.
Not wanting her to continue to suffer with such an inability, I have vowed to be her personal swimming instructor during the night. My schedule is quite packed during the day, and at night we would have more privacy so that no one else finds this out about her, since I prefer her inability be a secret for her sake. I have seen how the minnows would sometimes tease each other, and if they found this out about (Y/n), they might be harsh on her, same with the elders. Being so new to the Domain, I did not want such a fate to befall her, I wanted her to feel welcome here.
She has mentioned briefly to me about her previous hometown. She seemed... sad discussing it, as if there was no coming back to it. Since the matter was none of my business, I naturally changed topics for her sake. As a royal Zora, it is imperative that you learn the skill of tactfully moving on in a conversation. It can save you from dull meetings going over time, and from appearing rude and callous to others.
It is also very important that you watch out for your people, whether the issue they are dealing with be great or small. You have to always lead by your actions and follow through on your promises. There is this very ancient joke that apparently applies here: No one likes a flake, especially us Zora!
Muzu, the king's advisor, has explained to me that this ancient joke is a double entendre. However, I still have yet to figure out what is so funny about it. Personally, I think once you reach two hundred, your sense of humor becomes obscure. I am not looking forward to it.
