At today's meeting, I was informed, or rather lectured by the Council Of Elders, that I have yet to find a suitable fiancee. They asked why I was dragging my feet, about why I have yet to find a princess.I am not sure how Hyrule is in your time, but in mine... We are rather isolated from the rest of the world. The only other Domain that is close to us is an ocean away, and conversations with them are always about business. It would feel strange to bring up the discussion of wanting to meet their princess when we are discussing about there being a limited supply of hearty salmon.
Besides, I do not want a marriage that is purely for business, which is what the council wants of me. I want to marry for love, like Mipha wanted to. I do not want my marriage to be loveless, I refuse for it to be like that, no matter what the council says.
Though I hold my tongue during the meetings, I want to so badly object to the notion altogether. However, I have the feeling my silence makes them feel as if I have no issue who I get married to, which could not be further from the truth.
However, I have something that I can use if the worst should come, and they arrange for me to get married to a princess of their choice. The Zora's Sapphire, an engagement ring that a Royal gives to someone whom they wish to be married to, regardless of their status. If you should give it to anyone, then nobody, not even the king himself, could deny you of your marrying of that person. I do not want for it to come to that, since I do want father's approval, but when am I ever able to make a decision that is mine, and mine alone?
"Prince Sidon, send all these letters out immediately within ten minutes!" "Prince Sidon, make all the deliveries within fifteen! If they are late, it will be your neck!" "Prince Sidon, your crown is slightly crooked, fix it immediately! You're a prince, not a mere commoner!" "Prince Sidon, be more formal with the citizens. You're not their friend, you're their future king."
Sometimes, I just feel like a puppet on a string. I want to be so much more... Hopefully it's not like this in your time. Hopefully the policies I plan to enact when I am king will pass on to your time, policies that will make your life as a royal more easier, more liberating.
I wonder if strict rules were the reason why (Y/n) sought out our Domain for a new home. I do not dare to ask her, since the topic of her past home seems to be a rather sensitive subject to her. She says the people are great and ever so kind, but what about the leaders?
So many questions for a lady who seems so mysterious to me. Perhaps it's a fascination for a Zora who probably has seen so much in her life. Perhaps it's just my desire to make her feel at home here.
Regardless, I will always stay true to my heart, and I hope that you do, too.
