So this is it.

You're going to learn about my story. With Cade.

Ugh Cade. That name is as dumb and ignorant as the person that calls himself that.

Cade Parker wasn't always a name that made me cringe. No, actually it was a delightful sound to my ears as to anyone else's. He used to be a joy to be around. He used to be the person that could make my whole week with one flash of his white smile. He was the perfect son and an amazing best friend. My best friend to be exact. We were so close. We were so happy. We had so much fun together. We'd eat our favorite food, ( cheese fries or to be exact, what we called cheesy fries ) until we couldn't anymore. We stayed up until 5 am every sleepover we ever had. We climbed our tree together every Saturday night even though we both fell and broke a few bones in the 9 years we did it. That is until he decided to unfriend me the 3rd week of our freshmen year.

I was waiting on a Saturday night in our tree at a park that is close to both of our houses in Fairfield Harbour, NC. When I looked at my watch at 11:37 I realized he wasn't coming since our usual meet up time is 10:50 I decided to go home and call him and yell at him with all my 14 year old power.

I called, he didn't answer.

He didn't answer 23 times to be exact.

I went to bed thinking my best friend was sick and couldn't possibly reach the phone because he came down with something so awful, that it was impossible for him to move.

Monday morning, didn't have a ride to school. Why? Because my best friend's mother didn't pick me up. So I walked. A short walk, but I WALKED. I got to school thinking my best friend was still so very sick when I see him talking to his friend from the football team, Drew. I walk up to him and hit the back of his head. Hard.

"Ouch what was tha-"

"Um why didn't you come to the tree?"

"Because you smell" now, this would have been a normal joke, and I would have laughed but it didn't come from Cade. No, it came from Drew.

"Excuse me?" I did not stink. In fact I smelt of vanilla that day. My absolute favorite scent so no, I did not stink.

"You heard me fatty." Fatty. Huh. This is new to me. The rude remarks and the name calling. Never once in my life had this happened to me.

"He doesn't like you anymore so if you can please leave you're stinking up the air around us." Drew and I were never friends. Heck I had no other friends then Cade. Why would I need anymore when I thought I had the best. But now Drew is telling me that Cade has no interest of being my friend anymore. Is this a joke?

"Cade what is he talking about?" I look at Cade and he's looking right at his feet. Blank expression, attention at his feet. "Cade. Hello? Bud, I don't have all day tell me this is a joke and we can laugh and head to our homerooms. Come on."

Nope. Nothing. His feet must still be more interesting then his (ex)best friend getting harassed by some big headed football dummy.

"What part of leave don't you understand? He told me Friday night after the game he hated you and that you're annoying. So I promised my new buddy here that I'd get rid of you for him. And you see, it's not working until you go the fuck away. So please don't make me break a promise and make me look like a liar." Drew had the most nonchalant look on his face while my eyes are welling up with tears.

"Just go Abbie." Those are the words that broke my little 14 year old heart. Those words that came from Cade. I looked at him and this time he looked at me. Looked at me with a blank expression but it still hurt like hell. Tears fell and I ran. I ran away from Cade and Drew straight into the nearest bathroom.
