Joy sat by the window, watching the rain pour from the sky. She sighed, fiddling with her ring, bored out of her mind. If only the rain would stop so she could go outside to train. If only her mother would give her back her stele so she could try making new runes.

"Joy?" her father's gentle voice asked from behind her.

"Yes Dad?" she replied, turning to face him. He sat down in an old chair. Her mother sat beside him.

"Joy, we need to tell you something"

----------

Joy runs back to the house. It is on fire. Demons are surrounding it, invading it. She can hear her parents screaming. She runs toward the burning building and calls out for them. They cry back. Then, they are silent. The only sounds are the crackle of the fire, the roars of the demons and the crunch of footprints. But not her own.

She turns around to see a man with blond hair and dark eyes. She gasps.

"Mr. Wayland?" she asks.

The man smiles. It is charming, but not pleasant.

"Not Wayland my dear, not Wayland at all."

----------

Valentine holds a cup to her mouth.

"Drink child," he orders.

Jinx looks at him with determined eyes and a stubborn expression.

"No." she says. Valentine grits his teeth.

"I said DRINK!" he shoves it against her mouth, parting her lips and forcing the demon's blood down her throat.

She stares angrily at her brother, who stands there in the corner, grinning like the devil. It's the last thing she sees before she doubles over, vomiting up part of the cursed ichor.

----------

Jinx shoots up straight in bed. She is in her creaky bed in the cheap hotel that she'd rented for the night.

She is not at HYDRA. She is not with them. She is safe.

But she is alone.

She gets up and moves to the chair beside the window. She sighs, trying to shake herself from that nightmare. Her hands start drawing angelic runes on the frosted window without her realizing.

To put that anxiety out of her mind, she focuses on another worry. The kids she thinks.

Checking her watch, she contemplates how safe it is for her to head back to the basement. 4:17 The Hydra agents who had been following her were either dead, or bleeding out in an alleyway, but still, should she put on a glamour just to be safe? She decides to take her chances.

Pulling on her jacket, she makes the bed, tosses the keys on the table and grabs her small bag, making sure that the thumb drive is inside it before she moves the ironing board from the door, to the corner where she'd found it.

The street is empty, of mundanes and the shadow world. Jinx walks down the sidewalk, senses sharp. She turned her head to check behind her. When she turned around, there were two men standing in front of her. One had a gun.

"Hey! Give us your phone and your wallet, now!" the man with the gun yelled.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me," Jinx muttered.

"C'mon man, hurry up! C'mon, c'mon!" He said loudly.

"Why, do you have somewhere to be?" she asked him, calmly.

"C'mon, don't make me shoot you!" he continued.

"Y-yeah! Don-Don't make him shoot you!" The other guy stuttered.

"Why are you yelling? Are you trying to make me deaf?" Jinx continued, unfazed.

"W-why aren't you scared?" stutter guy asked.

"Because I can do this-" she reached forward and twisted the gun out of his hands and tossed it on the ground. When the man lunged forward, she picked him up and threw him into a wall. He crumpled down.

The second man moved forward, hesitating. She ran around him, twisting his arm behind his back. He cried out when it gave a gut wrenching crack. She kicked his knees, making him fall down. She began to walk away when she heard the first man get up.

She dove out of the way before the shot hit her. The gunman was a good shot. If he'd shot at a mundane, or maybe even a regular shadowhunter, he would've killed them.

But Jinx wasn't an ordinary shadowhunter.

She twisted the gun out of his hands and flipped him onto the ground.

"Are ya done?" she asked him, pointing the gun at his head. The man nodded furiously.

"Good," she said, turning around to walk away. The mugger started to get up again.

Jinx turned around and shot him in the leg. He cried out in pain, doubling over.

"Done means not trying to attack me again," she tells him, leaving the gun on the sidewalk and continuing to the apartment  basement that they were calling home.

----------

"Dead," Captain America said, getting up from the floor.

"So's this one" Natasha called out.

"I don't like this Steve," Bucky said, looking down at a third body.

"I don't either Buck. 7 dead HYDRA agents, a stolen thumb drive, I wonder what happened," Steve replies.

"I think they were tracking someone," Natasha says. "And then someone tracked them,"

"If this someone can take down 7 HYDRA agents, I think we should find them, judging on what I see, I think that they're an enhanced," Bucky looked down at the body in front of them.

"Yes, but how?" Nat asked him.

"I think that I might have an idea-" Steve said pointing up at the security camera.
