(TW: mentions/implications of suicide)
He stood there, under the rain.
Jay sighed, watching him with a soft gaze. He held onto his umbrella as he watched the male in front of him cry. His tears mixed in with the rain. He was drenched from head to toe.
He couldn't believe his eyes. His heart ached more than anything else in the world. His cries became louder as the moments passed, still in disbelief.
Jay turned to Olivia, swallowing the lump in his throat. She was crying, too. Silently. He wiped away her tears, hugging her tightly. The memories of her 'death' getting triggered again.
She hugged him back, crying into his chest. He gently stroked her hair, trying his best not to cry. It was so hard not to, he just lost one of his best friends.
He had watched her die. Right in front of him.
The thunder echoed, ringing in his ears.
The image of her lifeless body stained with blood popped up into his mind, right as the lightning struck. Everything sucked, everything was so ridiculously wrong.
None of this should've ever happened.
Ever.
He turned to look at Jake, who was now on his knees begging for the love of his life to come back from the dead, everything inside of him hurting. He had no more reason to live without her.
There was no purpose.
He knew that even in death he would never see her again. He would rot in hell, his guilt tormenting him over and over, without any escape.
She wouldn't be there.
That was enough torture for him, already.
He hugged the gravestone tightly, still in some denial.
As much as Jay hated Jake, he knew how he felt. He knew exactly how it felt to lose his entire world. Except, his came back, and, Jake's would never.
Never.
He was honestly surprised that Jake hadn't gone absolutely mad — trying to kill the doctors, and whatnot. He guessed some part of her really kept him sane.
He also knew that Jake was going to leave.
Forever.
And, as much as he wanted him to suffer for what he did to him, he still mattered to him.
20 years of friendship.
It's hard to let go.
He knew the male would never crack another smile, ever again, and he knew that he couldn't do anything to prevent the male from leaving.
It was time to come to terms with it, and close that chapter in his life.
It was like walking through a thorny bush.
Giving him scars that would last forever.
