Damian

When I wake up, I feel better than ever. Raven is alive. And she knows we're coming to get her.

"Why do you look so happy?" Dick asks.

"Raven's alive. I suppose that would make anyone happy," I say.

"Really? How do you know?" he demands.

"Our bond. She was able to bring me to her dreams," I tell him.

"How do you know you weren't just dreaming that?"

"Because it was Raven. I could tell," I assure him.

"So...you aren't mad?" Dick asks carefully. I narrow my eyes on him. I had almost forgotten he hit me with a dart. And now he's in my room. Only Raven's allowed here uninvited.

"Don't do it again if you want to live. How long was I out?"

"Twelve hours."

"Twelve hours?!" I yell.

"Well, I didn't know when the next time you were going to sleep!"

"Just get out," I tell him.

"If you see Raven in your dreams, tell her I say hi," Dick says, dodging out of the way when I throw one of Titus's toys at him. He laughs and skips out of my room. I whistle and Titus comes running in. He jumps on my bed and licks my face. I pet him.

"Rae says hi," I tell him. He barks and licks my hand.

Raven

"Hey, Raven?" Wanda asks after a moment of silence. I look at her, feeling the sadness she's emitting. Whether it's on purpose or not, I can feel it strongly. But I'm used to it.

"Yes?"

"Have you ever lost someone?" she whispers quietly.

"Yes."

"Who?"

"Who have you lost?" I ask her softly, knowing she's not really interested in who I've lost.

"I lost my parents when I was little in a bombing. Then a few months ago, my brother was killed by Ultron," she tells me.

"He sounds like a great hero."

"Most people say I'm sorry. Why didn't you?"

"Saying I'm sorry doesn't help anyone. It doesn't make you feel better," I say.

"You have experience with it, don't you? Grief? Pain?"

"Yes."

"Well, I know it's not worth much, but I felt your father, and it felt like hell. You're an amazing woman to be containing him," Wanda murmurs.

"Ummm, thank you?"

"You're not used to that, are you?"

"What?"

"Getting compliments," she clarifies. I raise an eyebrow.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, sorry. I just heard it in my head. I just meant that people don't really compliment you for stuff you want to be complimented on."

Huh. She's right. Really Damian ever compliments me in a way that I care. With Kori it's always you look great, with Gar and Jaime it's like wow this is great whenever I'm cooking. Like, I know that already. But Damian is the only one who compliments me on the stuff I think I'm not good at. Fighting, control, ect. Just proves we should keep Dami around.
