TITLE: in your soul, you know (it's time to go)
AUTHOR: katsukiscoffee on AO3Satoru has known Suguru his entire life. They've grown up together, shared every stupid thought together, spent second over second with each other until their parents sent them home. It's always been like that. Growing up, imagining his life without Suguru would have been impossible.
After all, he's always been the person he first turned to. Talked to, whenever his parents got into a fight. Uncountable sleepovers with lame ass discussions and shared secrets.
Over the years Suguru has grown taller, wider than Satoru, common interests developed into something different; but it didn't matter as long as they had each other. It never did.
It never does.
Two ten year old kids, eyes full of innocence for the world and yet so fascinated by each other. So much that sharing thoughts didn't seem to be enough and an aching heart was inevitable.
━━━━━━━━
Satoru notices at the age of eighteen for the first time how brown eyes actually were meant to glisten with the slightest amount of purple. How beautiful this mix of color is in his eyes and how much it means to him. Regardless of the odd feeling coming with it.
At the age of eighteen he realizes a lot of things. He's grown fond of seeing Suguru in a different light, very used to the throbbing pain in his chest whenever he talks to anyone else. Whenever he laughs at anyone else; a twisting feeling of betrayal sinking through his chest like a knife piercing through every vein.
There's this insecurity settled inside him though, because he doesn't know what it means and where it comes from and why it only happens now.
By eighteen, they had moved in together.
"Oi," Suguru snaps his fingers in front of his face. "Are you still listening?"
Although they have shared every dumb thought in their minds, this is something he'll take to his grave. How much he wants to comb his hands through those strands of dark hair. How irritating Suguru can be sometimes when a simple touch of skin does the deal.
The worst thing of it all is: Suguru doesn't seem to notice. Deep down the craving only grows and Suguru doesn't realize.
"Yeah, of course." Satoru says. I wasn't.
"Oh?" Suguru tells him then, with his head in the palm of his hands. Looking absolutely gorgeous as it stun Satoru into silence for a second. "So you agree to dance at Shoko's birthday party in front of everyone, naked?"
Satoru chuckles.
"Shut up. What did you say?"
The sudden touch of a warm hand on one thigh makes him want to scream, makes his head spin and heart race and every possible muscle in his body evidently feels alive. It's the effect Suguru has on him which makes only everything worse.
