Lloyd And Kai's Haunted Memories

You may find some headcanons in this oneshot about Kai and Lloyd, there are no ships between the ninja.

This is set around season 1, a few days after Lloyd and Kai escaped from the volcano.

The brunette woke up with a sharp gasp, his messy, disheveled hair sticking to his sweaty forehead as he relived the moment he was stuck in the volcano with Lloyd.

He may have seemed tough and fearless at the time, but truthfully he had been terrified.

He threw the red duvet off of him, his red tshirt soaked in sweat, beads of the fluid traveling down his face as he panted.

He sat up and grabbed his glass of water, yet his hands were shaky and sweaty, he dropped the glass by accident and it fell to the wooden floor with a loud smashing sound that traveled through the Destiny's Bounty.

He hear someone approaching, he stifled a groan as he felt a sharp piece of glass in his leg.

The door opened to reveal Nya, of course his sister would be awake at two am.

"Kai?.." she mumbled sleepily, she came over, avoiding the glass and noticing her brothers state.

"what happened, big bro?" she asked, heading over to his bathroom to grab a wet cloth and the emergency kit.

"night terrors.." he mumbled when she came back, she pushed his sticky hair out of his face, cleaning the sweat off with the cloth.

"cmere." she shuffled backwards on the bed, giving Kai room to put his leg, he grunted as he lifted up his injured leg.

She carefully and gently cleaned around the glass with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol.

He grabbed one of the shirts that he had thrown onto the ground and bit down on it, he didn't want to wake up anybody else.

Nya stood up and turned on the lights, she sat back down and gently grabbed his leg.

"I'm going to pull it out, okay?" Kai nodded, Nya began to carefully pull it out.

Tears sprung to Kai's eyes but he didn't let them spill and instead closed his eyes.

Nya quickly pulled it out and placed the shard on her brothers nightstand and reached for the roll of bandages.

She quickly and gently lifted his leg up and rolled the bandages around his bleeding injury.

The fabric started tainting crimson but Nya kept rolling his leg in bandages before taping it up and putting the remaining bandages back in the kit.

Kai let go of his crumbled tshirt and mumbled a thanks, Nya smiled "you're welcome bro." she stored the kit and paused at the doorframe, dropping the glass in Kai's garbage bin.

"hey Kai?.." Nya started, Kai hummed in question, laying back in bed "can I sleep here?" she asked.

"sure." Kai removed the duvet so she could crawl in, Nya had already turned off the lights and crawled onto the bed.

Nya laid herself on top of Kai, being careful around his leg, her head rested on his chest while he had an arm draped over her lower back, holding her tight.

"g'night, sis.." Kai mumbled tired "goodnight, Kai.." Nya smiled and closed her eyes, falling asleep to the noise of thunder and rain outside.

Lloyd uncurled his body, nightmares plagued his mind as he kept hearing the loud thunder outside his room.

He whimpered as the thunder sounded close by, and very loud, he crawled out of bed, a stuffed lion held tightly in his arms while he walked outside his room.

He pondered if he should go and see if Kai was awake, but why would he be awake at three in the morning?

He walked down the hallway and stopped in front of Kai's door, sure they got off on the bad side at first, but he saved him, didn't he?

He knocked on the door and waited for a moment, but he didn't get a response, he adjusted his hold on his plushie before silently opening the door.

"Kai?.." he called softly, he could see Kai and Nya cuddling together, he didn't want to disturb them so he started backing up.

"hm?.." Lloyd heard Kai say "Lloyd?.. What's wrong?" Kai asked, Lloyd walked inside and closed the door behind him.

"I couldn't sleep.." he mumbled, Kai motioned him over "Cmere.. You can stay here for the night."

Kai picked him up and placed him on the side of the bed with a wall, Nya hummed tiredly and woke up.

"Lloyd?.." she asked confused as she saw the young child sitting next to her.

Kai smiled "he couldn't sleep." he explained, Nya made a noise of understanding and moved off of Kai.

"come here.." Kai pulled Lloyd towards him and he laid down on top of his chest, Kai had decided to just wash his upper body and put on some deodorant while Nya cleaned up the glass.

Lloyd cuddled into Kai's body, Nya draped an arm over his lower back while Kai had his arm slightly outstretched on the bed, Nya laying on top of it.

Lloyd closed his eyes, yet flinched when he heard the thunder again, he never had been a fan of it.

Jay's lighting didn't bother him, but thunder did.

"you okay bud?.." Kai asked as another boom of thunder sounding and the room temporarily lit up.

"I hate the thunder.." he mumbled, he felt Nya shift besides him and got up, searching through Kai's nightstand.

He heard her plug something in, he found out it was a nightlight, it lit up the room with dragon figures.

Lloyd smiled and Nya crawled back onto the bed and laid down in the same position.

Lloyd slightly curled his legs and closed his eyes "thank you.." he mumbled and could faintly hear them saying 'your welcome'.

Zane yawned, he was the first to wake up, followed by Cole and Jay, usually Nya was the second person awake, but she wasn't this time, and it made him curious.

He decided to check if Lloyd was awake, the kid had started warming up to him and sometimes helped him make food.

He made his way over to Lloyd's room, the door was slightly open, he frowned, Lloyd never left his door open.

He opened the door and found his bed empty, his lion plushie gone too. He walked down the hallway and stopped at Nya's room.

Maybe Nya and Lloyd were just hanging around here.

He opened the door and found her bed empty as well, he started to worry, heading to Kai's room.

He silently opened the door, all his worry went away as he saw them together.

Kai was laying on his back, Lloyd was on top of him, his legs slightly curled while he cuddled with his lion plushie, Kai had one arm over Lloyd's back, slightly above Nya's.

Nya had her head resting on Kai's other arm, one of her arms laid by her side while the other was draped over Lloyd's lower back.

Zane took a picture to show his family and let them sleep.
