Chapter 3:
We took two cars. I rode with Kennedy in her BMW. While Melissa took her SUV. Kennedy and I followed behind as Mel pulled out of the driveway.
"So...um..... what's this big surprise you had planned?" I asked searching for any clues she might have to offer.
"You'll find out soon enough." She replied, keeping her eyes fixated on the road.
"Common! You know I hate surprises..." I begged.
Kennedy ignored me. It must of been an important surprise. Knowing Kennedy she would have given in by now. Instead of pestering her, I decided just to leave it. After all, I would find out soon enough. I took a breath and decided to change the topic.
"At least tell me where we're going for lunch?"
"Your favorite, The Cheesecake Factory!" this time she glanced at me and gave me a half hearted smile.
Kennedy was right, it was my favorite. I hadn't eaten there in so long, I was beginning to look forward to it. She knew how to get me in a better mood. I did need a girl day. It's a time for me to be carefree and just take a needed breather from all the stressful hormones I had been receiving lately in the past two months. With that, I cranked up the music while Kennedy rolled down the windows and took the top off of the car. The weather was warm, the sun was shining, it was a perfect summer day. We cruised for about 45 minutes in the London traffic before finally arriving at the restaurant.
We parked the cars, got out, and headed inside. Needless to say, it was crowded. Luckily Kennedy had set up a reservation, otherwise we would have never gotten a table.
"Right this way." the hostess said leading us to our outdoor patio table.
We sat down; moments later the waiter came, took our drink orders, and handed us our menus before scurrying off. I debated on asking what the surprise was again, but decided on not doing it. When the time comes, they'll tell me. So instead I picked up the menu and carelessly began to flip through it. I already knew what I wanted, but I still looked through it in order to keep myself occupied. No more than five minutes later, the young waiter came back with our drinks and took our orders.
"Um...I'll have a chicken caesar salad." Kennedy said.
"I'll take the barbecue chicken pizza, but leave off the onions. Thanks." Melissa finished passing the waiter her menu.
"And for you miss?" He asked.
"Get me the Louisiana Chicken Pasta." I replied not looking up from the menu in front of me.
"Will that be all for you love?" the waiter asked again.
"Uhh....Yes! Thank you!" I replied half-heartedly
"Okay! I'll be right with your orders in about fifteen to twenty minutes." he answered with a smile directed towards me.
As soon as he was out of sight, the girls began staring at me with a look of sheer giddiness on their faces.
"What?" I asked with perplexity in my voice.
"Did you not see the way the waiter looked at you?" Mel asked.
"He was clearly flirting with you!" Kennedy chimed in.
"Oh please....he was just being friendly!" I attempted to shut them up, but that did no good.
"Just being friendly? Yeah right! He didn't call either me or Mel 'love.' Besides, he was hot!"
He was pretty attractive. He was tall, about six foot, three inches, I would have guessed. He had dirty blonde hair that was styled in a tousled messy look, along with light brown eyes, and a little scruff on the lower half of his face, many would call it a Go-T.
