Chapter 4:

A few seconds elapsed and nothing had changed. I was still zoned out, oblivious to what had just taken place only moments ago. Soon enough I heard the familiar voices of Kennedy and Melissa attempting to bring me out of my trance. I shook my head from side to side, trying to regain my thought process of the world around me. Everything came back into focus as I began to sort through all the thoughts and emotions I had previously experienced that had put me into a daze.

"We're going where?" I asked a little unsure of what just happened.

"To the One Direction Concert tonight!" Kennedy said with clarity just as Mel began to "fangirl" as you might call it.

I smiled. "Can't wait!" I replied, my voice trying to fake authentic excitement.

Inside, I was secretly rolling my eyes. "Great..." I thought sarcastically. "Just

what I need... My sisters favorite boy-band singing sad little love songs to a bunch of lovesick screaming girls about relationship problems I'm facing right now... What fun..."

To be completely honest, I knew almost nothing about them. Okay go ahead...I know what you all are thinking. How does a teenage girl know nothing about one of the biggest boy-bands in the world? Simple. I could careless. Yeah, of course I'd seen a picture or two, heard a few songs, and know a few of their names. That was all thanks to Kennedy and Melissa's slight (I use this term loosely) obsession. But other than that, I knew practically nothing. I lacked the ability to place a name with one of their faces, sing along with any of their songs, I even lacked the capability to tell if a song belonged to them. I was completely uneducated when it came to One Direction. That's why it came such a shock to me when Kennedy announced her surprise. Her intentions were good, so I had to play along and act like I couldn't wait. Truth be told, I was dreading it. Especially the part where we have to meet them. I mean, the last thing I want is to meet some stuck up guys who think they're all that. Guys that have girls drooling all over them, girls who they don't give a crap about. Typical boy-band, typical fame-hungry celebrities, typical players. This was one thing I was not looking forward to.

"Are you excited?" Melissa asked, drawing me out of my thoughts and into the real world.

"Oh yeah! Of course! I mean I don't really know them, but a concert sounds like it could be fun!" I answered as cheerfully as I could.

Both the girls smiled! They began to believe their surprise was a success. That was all that mattered to me. They had spent probably thousands of dollars on this night, to try to cheer me up. I didn't want to upset them, so I went along with it. After all, I didn't lie completely. All I said was that I didn't really know them as a group...which was 100% true. I also said that a concert could be fun, again, true. After all, I didn't specify which concert, I just said A concert. Truthfully, any concert could be fun, depending on who you go with. Well, I was going with my two best friends. Even if the music was sad and depressing and reminded me of Tyler, I was going to force myself to act like I was having fun, for them. I pushed any negative thoughts behind me for the time being and focused on faking my smile. I had to do it well, otherwise Kennedy would realize something was up.

"Sooo... Are we ready to drive down to the arena? The sound check starts in about two hours." Kennedy asked excitedly.

"Sure! Let's go!" I replied as enthusiastically as possible.

The girls and I grabbed our purses and headed out the restaurant, to Kennedy's convertible. We chose to only take one car that way we could save gas, as well as money for when we have to pay for parking at the venue. On the way to the arena, I listened to Mel and Kenny giggle in the front seat over their hopes to fall in love with two of the boys. Apparently, Kennedy's favorite was Niall, and Melissa's was Liam. Niall and Liam were the only two names I knew, considering those were the only names they ever talked about. I rolled my eyes here and there whenever they would get a little worked up over it. It was amusing, I had to say. Seeing how much those two "loved" someone they had never even met before. It made no sense to me. I shrugged and decided to at least look like I was having fun, after all my sister and her friend spent a lot of money on excellent seats. After about another half hour drive we arrived at the venue, having about an hour until the sound check began. And there was a huge crowd of screaming girls to spend the hour with.

"FANTASTIC, I'm depressed and it looks like I'll end up with a massive headache afterwards" I quietly thought myself.

"Look we're here!" Melissa said as we all stepped out of the car.

"Kendall, I promise this will help with Tyler!" Kennedy expressed.

My sister was always looking out for me! And it didn't matter if I liked the band or not; I was gonna have fun enjoying the girl time, and try not to think about Tyler or the concert! The girls and I all walked up to the arena chatting about what was to happen in a matter of hours!

"So, who's your favorite out of the band?" Mel asked me out of curiosity as we waited at the door.

"Oh I don't really have one...I'm not a big directioner! Whose there to pick from?" I replied trying to engage in the conversation even though I could barely hear over the screams.

"Well since Liam and Niall are already ours," she says motioning to herself and Kennedy "there's Zayn, Harry, and Louis!"

"I guess I'll have to see when we see them!" I said with a grin!

We all kept talking for the rest of the hour until finally the doors opened. We walked inside, showed the security guards our VIP passes, and headed to grab our front row seats. The stadium was completely lit up. Crew members were walking around, prepping for the show which was to take place in a matter of hours. The front ten rows were filled with girls ranging from ages nine to about twenty-five. All obsessed with the band, all dying for the chance to meet them, all over-excited, all screaming their heads off. This atmosphere was new to me. I couldn't even hear myself think. Suddenly, a short man, who looked to be in his mid-thirties, walked onstage. He had on a suit and tie, carried a microphone in his hand, and wore glasses. He began to speak.

"Hello, how is everyone today?" he held an accent.

The crowd followed, blurting out a loud, "Good!"

"That's good, that's good." he spoke again. "My name is Joe, and I'm One Direction's manager. The boys will be out for the soundcheck in about fifteen minutes. Therefore the crew will begin setting up the stage momentarily, so I ask that you remain seated. Also, I just wanted to say thanks for coming out tonight, and I hope you enjoy the show."

With that, Joe discretely exited the large platform.

Shortly, the crew walked out and began preparing the stage. The instrumentalists soon followed, carrying their equipment. The stadium soon filled with sounds of speedy working as well as sounds of instruments tuning. After about fifteen minutes, a loud voice boomed through the speakers, filling the large arena.

"Places... Places musicians. Crew... Clear the stage."

With that, the crew members quickly exited and moved backstage, the drummer took his place behind the drum set, the pianist stood behind the electric keyboard, the guitarists grabbed their guitars and stood in their positions; and of course, the girls, right on cue, began screaming again.

Soon enough, from behind the black curtain five tall boys emerged.

Kennedy, Melissa, and all the others began to fangirl as the boys began to introduce themselves. I, on the other hand found myself locking eyes with another pair of emerald green ones.

His bright green eyes, curly brown hair, and dimples reminded me too much of Tyler. For a second, I thought it was him. They looked almost identical, except for the fact that Tyler's eyes were blue.

"I can't do this!" I think, finally breaking the stare and glancing away.

However, his eyes were still fixated on me; I was completely unaware.

"Just don't look up." I thought to myself over and over again, "whatever you do, just don't look up.

I just couldn't look at him. If I did, I knew memories would flood back. Memories that brought back emotions of pain, regret, sorrow, and remorse... Emotions of weakness. Something I was trying to rid myself of. Something that the two closest people around me were trying to help me forget. I stared at the ground below my feet trying to forget his all too familiar face, but little did I know, that curly headed boy believed in love at first sight.
