So It Goes

April Jarvis grew up very aware of her family's work; she had heard stories and seen files, and when she would ask questions, while never in full detail, they would be answered. She knew of her grandfather's connections with Howard Stark and that her grandfather and Peggy Carter had become close while working on a mission for Howard. Things like these were never hidden from April.

That was until April was seven years old and her uncle Tony stopped coming around. When April would ask where he was, she would get a simple answer, normally revolving around him working, and on occasion, he would send a letter or postcard, but then, after maybe a year or so had passed, the letters stopped, she received no postcards, and her questions were answered with a disappointed exchange between her parents that she didn't understand at the time.

April never knew why her uncle stopped coming around. If it was work-related, why wasn't she allowed to know?

Edwin Jarvis passed away in 1998. April was ten years old. The next time April saw her Uncle Tony was at her grandfather's funeral, and it was just that. She saw him. She saw him as they lowered Edwin's casket into the ground; she saw him give her father and grandmother a hug; and she saw him get into the back of a black car and drive away. If it wasn't for April's mother saying who it was, she wouldn't have recognized him.

As April got older, the memories of her uncle faded. When she was younger, it upset her that he had stopped coming around, but the older she got, the less she thought about him.

He was just a distant memory for her.

That was until April's parents passed away. Christopher and Abigail Jarvis passed away in 2002; April had just turned 14.

April did not see Tony at the funeral this time. She did not see him as her parents' caskets were set into the ground; he did not give her and her grandmother a hug or even a look before leaving, and she did not see him get into the same black car when he left because he was not there. And because of this, he was no longer just a memory. He was someone April hated.

April had never hated anyone; she didn't think she had it in her to actually hate someone, but when she looked around at her own parents funeral and did not see her father's very best friend, she hated Tony Stark.

Except she did not know he was "the" Tony Stark. April couldn't remember his voice; she barely remembered his face, let alone remember who he was to the world. She did not know her uncle Tony. But she did hate him.

This story does not take place in any canon timeline, and all main characters are alive unless stated otherwise. This story has ties to Marvel's Agent Carter; however, certain things may be altered to fit this story.

Ana Jarvis, a canon character from Marvel's Agent Carter, is a very big part of this story. Ana is canonically Hungarian, and throughout the planning of this story, I decided that April had learned Hungarian from Ana. With this being said, there will likely be times in this fic where April and/or Ana speak in Hungarian. I personally do not know much about this language, but I am doing extensive research on anything I write in Hungarian. I cannot promise that everything I write will be correct, so if anything is incorrect, I do apologize and am open to any corrections.

This story may include:

harsh language , stalking , torture (nothing too descriptive) , blood / gore (nothing too descriptive) , etc.

There will also be discussions of:

an emotionally abusive relationship, current and past mental health issues, a past miscarriage , sickness & death of a close family member.

None of these things will be too descriptive, and there will always be trigger warnings at the beginning of chapters; however, please be aware of everything before reading.

I try to be very considerate when writing about difficult topics; however, if I ever portray something poorly, please correct me. I am never going to purposely portray something in a poor manner, but I am always open to corrections and criticism.

This story is connected to mine and @oswaldswan 's crossover fic "Fear Of Water" which is not currently published.

There may or may not be mentions and/or appearances from: Eris Parker, Alia Montgomery, and Albany Parker in this story. Eris Parker and Alia Montgomery are my OC's who are also part of my fic "A Step Towards Myself" which has no ties to this story and is currently unpublished. All of these characters are also a part of "Fear of Water".

Albany Parker is @oswaldswan 's OC and the protagonist of "Fear of Water"

Josephine Stark is @poedamerongf 's OC, and you can find her original fic on her account! Joey is also in Fear Of Water.

Mary and Richard Parker are alive in this story, due to its connection with "Fear Of Water", and have a few cameos throughout. They will be portrayed by Lauren Cohan and Josh Dallas.

I would like to credit and thank @oswaldswan & @poedamerongf 's for existing.
