Someone was shaking me. I gradually opened my eyes and saw Andres' face. Hindi siya umiiyak ngunit bakas ang pagkabahala sa kanyang boses at mukha.
"Elio! Are you okay?" he asked when he noticed I opened my eyes.
Dahan-dahan akong bumangon at naupo. "Anong nangyari?" tanong ko habang nakahawak sa aking ulo.
"You fell in a booby trap," he said. "This is probably one of those places with red marks in the map of Camp Hennery."
I looked around and realized we're inside a hole. It wasn't so deep, but it was high. Sa taas nito ay malabong makaalis kung hindi gagamitan ng hagdan.
"Nahila ba kita pababa rito?" tanong ko, inaalala kung paano ako bumagsak.
"No. I jumped to check on you."
"What?! Are you insane?" I reacted. "Imbes na naghanap ka ng tulong, bakit ka bumaba rito? Now, we're both trapped!"
"Do you think I can leave you here?!" he said in a high pitch. "Nawalan ka ng malay, madilim sa lugar na'to, and I was caught in the moment. The only thing I had in mind was to jump and check if you're okay."
Napalunok ako sa kanyang sinabi. Noon pa man ay matalas na ang kanyang tingin sa'kin, ngunit ang matalas na tingin na may halong pag-aalala ay hindi ko inasahang makikita ko sa kanyang mukha.
"Sorry," I said and drew out a heavy breath. "So what are we going to do now?"
I wasn't looking at him, but I heard he sniffed. "Do you have your phone? Hindi ko kasi nadala 'yong akin."

Hindi na ako nagdalawang-isip pa at sumakay na lamang sa kanyang balikat. I raised my phone, but it was useless. We couldn't get even a low signal. Sinubukan ko ring abutin ang itaas ng booby trap ngunit hindi ko ito maabot. I felt Andres' exhaustion, so I told him to put me down.
"They'll surely look for us once they noticed we're not around," he said, catching his breath.
Walang ilaw ngunit ang liwanag ng buwan ay nagbigay ng liwanag sa'min. Naupo si Andres upang magpahinga habang ako naman ay pilit kinakalikot ang aking cellphone.
"Wala bang masakit sa'yo?" tanong niya.
"Wala naman," sagot ko. "I only feel something in my leg, but I'm okay."
