31: Scarlet Cloth

The revelation about Nickey's real identity haunted us for days. Palagi kong nakakasama si Andres ngunit iniiwasan niyang mapag-usapan ang nangyari. Pumapasok pa rin si Nickey, ngunit hindi na namin siya nakakasama. I wanted to approach him, but I was overwhelmed with all the requirements and activities in school.

The night of Senior Ball came. We reached the school around six riding Tita Alice's car. Nang makapasok kami sa gate ay bumungad sa'min ang mga senior students suot at magagara nilang damit. From the parking lot, we made our way going to the assembly hall.

"Hi Guys!" Juno wearing a black feathery gown waved and went near us. She's with Poly wearing her green gown with flower patches.

"Wait? Where's Elio?" asked Juno and stared at me. "And who are you? I think you're new here?"

"Stop it," I said, shaking my head smiling.

"Oh? Elio? Is that you? Hindi kita nakilala sa histura mo," pabiro niyang sabi habang nakatingin sa suot kong cream white tuxedo.

"I got a little help from him." I turned to Andres, wearing his jet black tuxedo.

"You're really good at this, huh," said Juno.

"Small things." Andres shrugged with a confident smile.

My eyes landed at Poly who loocked gloomy. "What's wrong?"

"I just hope, Nickey will come," she said without looking at us.

Napatingin ako kay Andres dahil sa kanyang sinabi. I knew that apart from him, Poly was also affected about what happened to Nickey.

"Let's go, then," Juno said, trying to change the mood. "I'm so ready to party!"

We were about to go inside the assembly hall, but I noticed Andres didn't take any step to follow us.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I think I need to do something?" he said, then stared at Poly and Juno. "May dala ba kayong concealer?"

Nagkatinginan ang dalawa bago sumagot si Poly. "I have here," she said and took the concealer from her bag. She handed it to Andres.

"Bakit? Para saan 'yan?" tanong ko.

"Sa tingin mo ay matatakpan ang pasa sa mukha ni Nickey gamit ito?" saad ni Andres.

Napangiti ako sa kanyang sinabi. He kept giving me reasons to love him more.

"If you apply it properly," said Poly. "Besides, it's Nickey's shade, kaya pwede mong kapalan para lalong maitago ang pasa niya."

"Okay, thanks. Magkita na lang tayo mamaya sa hall," sambit niya. Paalis na sana siya ngunit tinawag siya ni Poly.

"Fix his neck tie for him, your dad didn't teach him how to do it," she instructed.

Andres gave a smile and said, "Thanks!"

Nang makaalis si Andres ay nagtungo na kami sa assembly hall. The night was sparkling with all the decorations and shining shimmering outfits. The program would start at 7PM. Marami ng tao kahit na alas-sais pa lang ng gabi.

Jacob was busy on the stage because he's the emcee for the event. He had the best suit among us. He could win as the Senior Ball King, but he's one of the organizer so it's not possible.

While waiting for Andres and Nickey, we saw Dayana wearing red gown and walking at the entrance. It supposed to be a normal entrance, but it became an eye catcher because she's walking with Bullet wearing a tuxedo made of scarlet cloth.
