Shang Tsung's Banquet Hall
Inside a hazy, dimly lit room, a large banquet is being held. Cloaked and hooded monks carry large portions of various foods on long wooden slabs. Candles surround the room. Zero looks around for Sub-Zero, but doesn't find him.
Jax: You gotta tell us how you did it, man?
The loud voice of Jax snaps Zero out of his thoughts. He looks back at Jax and raises an eyebrow.
Zero: Did what?
Jax: Y'know, how you beat Kano? How'd you turn invisible?
Zero: Like this.
He says plainly before completely disappearing. Jax roars with laughter and bangs his hand against the table. As Zero becomes visible again, Jax speaks.
Jax: Don't make me laugh so hard while I'm eating!
Zero doesn't respond. On the other side of the table, Johnny Cage is telling an...over exaggerated recount of his fight with Scorpion. If you can call it that.
Johnny: So I wipe my mouth and get ready for the next punch, and there's no one there! I turn around and WHAM!! He punches me right between the eyes! He broke my $500 sunglasses!!
Jax: Can you believe that clown? No wonder Scorpion beat his ass. He thinks this whole thing's a joke.
Zero: This is merely his coping mechanism designed to prevent him from facing the harsh reality that his acting career is over.
Jax: Damn. Now I know why they call you Zero. You got no chill, man.
Zero: The "chill" one is off meditating.
Jax: He's got jokes too? What can't you do?
Zero: Give speeches in Cantonese.
Jax: Why's that?
Zero: I can't speak it.
Jax laughs once again. Zero was just being honest. He goes back to scanning the room for his friend. He is once again interrupted, this time by Kano.
Kano: Hey, what the hell was that out there!?
Zero: We fought. I won.
Kano: You cheated.
Zero: No. I did not cheat. I merely bested you by being better. If you would like, we can step outside and repeat it.
Kano: What's the matter!? Afraid I'll embarrass you in front of your new friends and your little girlfriend!?!
The Aussie with a cybernetic eye is quickly forced to shut his mouth when Sonya stands up and punches him across the mouth.
Sonya: You're going to pay for what you did.
Kano: 'Ello, baby. Sticking up for your new boy toy...or are you still bitter about what happened to your last one?
By this time, Zero and Jax are on their feet. The two stand on either side Sonya.
