I kept my lips zipped as I rub my neck. Ranmaru then took his arm off me and cleared his voice, saying "Darn. Why did I ever say that."
This is just a joke right? A coincidence.
Coach coughed, saying "Who could possibly know?" He smirked and checked his phone, going away. "I'm calling coach Nanami. Just ask Ms. Najimoto if you need help okay?"
"Good luck with your practice, Yuzu." Mom patted my shoulder with that smile on her face, going back to her place.
"I'll go practice my step sequences now." Maru snickered and went back to the rink.
"Everyone—please—" I sighed, shrinking.
Suddenly, a hand hits my head quite hard, making me whine.
"Ow! That's–! I thought you said you won't be bad again?" I complained, rubbing the left side of my head.
"I only said I won't talk all grumpy again," Ken explained, sighing. "So anyway, what was that? You all acted weird."
I turned around and decided to let the topic go, heading back to the rink.
"Hey, wait!" Ken grabbed my shoulder and twisted me to face her, before sitting down to put her boots on as quick as she can. "You still owe me a story."
"Whatever," I stepped on the rink again. Maybe this time, I could pay her back by giving her the same medicine she has.
"I said wait, Hanyu—" Once I turned to her, she went on the ice hurriedly, resulting her to slip.
Oh sh—she slipped.
A pained yell echoed throughout the rink since only me, Maru and Ken are around. Maru heard it and immediately went to us for help.
"My god, Ken, you okay?" Ranmaru skated faster than me and reached Ken first, although I'm apparently closer to her.
By the time I arrive, I extended my arm to help Ken stand. I got her left hand while Ranmaru assisted her by her right. Great, I regret doing everything.
"Why didn't you slow down?" I sighed, pulling her upwards, but it seems like she's too pained to stand. Mom…
"Are you children okay?" She shouted from the rink side, evidently worried.
"If you just waited for me!" Ken grunted, shaking my hand off hers. "And I'm fine, Mrs. Hanyu! Just…"
When I released her, she grabbed Ranmaru's hands and stood up slowly, wincing. She didn't want my help.
"Look, I'm sorry." I assisted Ken in the back, helping Ranmaru.
"It wasn't…" She sat down, sighing in relief, "…funny."
I sat beside her and scratched my head. "I know…"
"Where does it hurt? In the ankle?" Ranmaru knelt in front of Ken, gently taking her skates off before massaging her foot. I kinda saw her bend her ankle earlier.
"Ouch! Knock it off!" Slapping Maru's hand away from her foot, Ken yelped.
Mother went to us, so I looked up to her. "I know how to bandage that. Maru, do you know where the first aid is located?"
"Yes, it's in coach's office," Ranmaru stood up as mom took his place, positioning Ken's foot in her lap. "I'll get it for you, Mrs. Hanyu."
Mom nodded and thanked him. I watched him go before glancing at Ken's foot again.
"It's so red…" I whispered.
"Thanks to you." Ken grunted again, hitting my arm.
"How could you possibly just slip like that? You're an experienced skater, right?"
