Jessa cleared her throat before speaking. "I'm not going to press you to tell me why you were crying but can I take a guess?" She looked up at me. I nodded.

"Are you pregnant?" She munched on her lips. I stopped walking and stared at her.

"Pregnant?" I asked.

"Yeah. I mean like, you were absent yesterday, you had morning sickness today and you were crying after you threw up and stuff. And I know you're hiding something from me and I think that's it. So are you pregnant?" She asked. I opened my mouth to answer.

"Cassie?" I turned around. Mrs Walters was walking behind us. I hoped she didn't hear anything Jessa had said.

"Yes, Miss?" I sniffed.

"Would you like to talk to me about anything?" She asked. I shook my head.

"Miss, everything's fine, I promise."

"You can tell me anything, you know that right? Everything you tell me is kept confidential." She placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah. I better get ready for my next lesson." I shook her off me. She looked at me, a worried expression plastered on her face. She nodded and walked away.

"Sorry Cassie." Jessa apologised. I sniffed again as I walked back into tutor. The room went silent as they watched me make my way to my seat. I attempted to ignore the stares and put my coat back on. I put my bag on my shoulder and looked at my tutor.

"You okay?" He mouthed. I nodded to which he gave me a thumbs up and a smile. When the bell went, Jessa and I made our way to the first lesson.

It had been no more than 15 minutes into the lesson before I was called out of class.

"Can I have Cassie please?" Mrs Walters spoke, causing me to look up from my work. I sighed. This woman. My teacher looked at me and I stood up.

"Take your stuff. You won't be coming back to lesson." She looked at her watch and some of the boys in my class ooed. I screwed them before leaving the room.

She walked me over to her office and gestured for me to sit down in the chair opposite her desk. She sat opposite me.

"Cassie, your mum is worried about you but quite frankly, so am I." She sighed.

"Why? I'm fine."

"I know something's not right. Something's going on in your life right now and I just want you to talk about it with me."

"Miss I've already told you, nothing's wrong, I'm fine." I sighed. She shook her head.

"What's going on at home Cassie?" She asked. I shrugged.

"Nothing much."

"Your mum told me you went off on your dad, is that true?"

"Yeah."

"Why'd you do that?"

"Cos he deserved it." I said simply.

"What'd he do to deserve it?"

"Everything."

"Cassie, you know you can't be doing that to your dad. It's not acceptable."

"Not acceptable? So it's acceptable for him to argue with my mum all the time and treat her badly, yet when I put him in his place for doing so, it's unacceptable? That's a load of bullshit and you know it." I kissed my teeth.

"Why do you have to be so disrespectful to your parents?"

"It's not disrespect, I'm being assertive." I blinked. She pursed her lips.
