When I looked inside, I was slightly unamused. I was waiting for something more exciting, but of all things, I wasn't expecting this. I had a slight hit of relief when I saw the look on Max's face, originally he had a pale, scared expression, but now he was more relaxed, still slightly on edge but calmer than he was before. He looked at me and back at the hallway before saying, "This doesn't feel right. I-I don't understand." Max was confused, and like me, was expecting something more supernatural than a hallway. The only thing that was off about it was its dark end - so dark you couldn't see beyond it.
I looked at Max, "Can we please go in?" I pleaded. Max, who was still slightly on edge, said, "Only for a bit." We both walked inside and smelled a strong, sweet smell coming from the end of the hallway. We walked towards it, but with each step, the lights in front of us kept turning on. We kept walking, and then Max decided to check the time, but his face again turned pale, "Hey Max, are you good?"
Max grabbed me, and we began walking to the exit. I kept asking him, "What's wrong? What did you see?" Then out of nowhere, the lights flashed red, and we began bolting for the exit. I was too late; I turned around and looked back at him before the door slammed shut. I tried re-opening it, but it just led back into the school. I gave up and walked back home in tears. When I opened the door, nobody was home, so I decided to head to bed early, still thinking about what happened to Max and consoling myself by saying, "He's strong. He will survive." But deep down, I know I'll have to go back and find him. I'll need to go back. I'll need to go into THE HALLWAY.
