I looked up, and he was standing there, but something was off. His eyes were empty, his face blank, and he was staring into nothing. But I didn't care. All I cared about was that he was alive. He sat down next to me and didn't say a word. I didn't question it. I knew he had every right to be mad at me I basically left him there to fend himself, so I just continued with my work.But I still couldn't shake that something was wrong. He didn't look like himself. I couldn't explain it, but it was the feeling of this intense cold, like I was standing in a blizzard. I shook it off as I could, as well as being the aircon from it being on for a whole day, but there was no doubt that it could be an effect. And the emptiness, I knew that he must have seen some horrors from that hallway. Things that no human could explain. And I had no intention of reminding him.
While I was working, I saw Max looking over and nodding and shaking his head while looking at my work like he usually does when he looks at my work. This made me chuckle a bit, but he didn't notice. When he finished looking over it, he walked over and whispered something to the teacher before she gently nodded.
I watched him leave slowly, looking at me on his way out, his glare giving me a chill. It gave me the cold feeling again. It was so similar to something, and I didn't know what. I spent the rest of class thinking, trying to remember, but then it clicked...
