MAX?

I had terrible nightmares that night just thinking about how Max cried out to me I woke up that morning drenched in sweat. I knew I had to do something but I couldn't think of what growing back in would be a death wish, I continued getting ready for school, waiting for the announcement to go public but surprisingly, nothing was reported I at least expected them to contact Max's mother.

But no, I dragged myself to school that morning the echoing cry of Max screaming and crying out to me echoing in my mind. Every bump on the road added more to my anxiety, I had goosebumps all over my legs and arms and re-occurring thoughts kept replaying in my head

" Am I a murderer?"

this thought shook me to my core. I spent most of the bus ride waiting for a call from my mom saying

"I'm sorry...."

or an email from the school, but again nothing happened. As soon as I heard the bus stop I walked out and then to school where I looked and saw the groundskeeper looking at the door with a somewhat neutral face, he's just like me, sort of he's always been paranoid of the paranormal and he's always on edge, I kept looking at him till a thought came to mind does he know about the what's behind the door, and if so could he help me, I spent my time thinking if I should ask him, but my thoughts where interrupted by the bell.

I walked into class and sat at my desk, Today was the day when the senior students came in to talk about the change into year 11 I laid my head on the desk as the teacher read out the names of the people who were coming in she did this as they walked in through the door.

I originally had Max as my senior buddy. A tear fell down my cheek, I laid my head on the desk waiting for her to finish reciting the names before I heard her call out the last name
"Jake Backham you are with"

I heard footsteps approaching me

" Max Caniper"

"Max?"
