Old Feelings and New Feelings

Monday at Training Camp

It was the first day of training camp and Karleigh was extremely nervous to see Joe and Sam. No one had told Joe about Karleigh and Sam's date so he was blissfully oblivious to the budding romance between his former love and his teammate. She walked into practice wearing a black Bengals shirt with black leggings and some sneakers. her outfit wasn't anything special but her ass did look great and almost all of the guys noticed it too. Sam and Joe both felt a pang of jealousy hit them when they noticed the team glancing at her. She was nervous walking in...nervous about Sam finding out Joe was Mia's father, and she was nervous about Joe finding out that she and Sam were...well she didn't know what they were but they were something.  Sam knowing about the situation between her and Joe decided to keep his distance for now, he just flashed her a quick smile and wink when no one was looking. She blushed at his gesture and continued walking. Joe approached her holding something small in his hand.

"Hey Kar..." he said softly.

"Hey Joe.." she gave him a soft smile.

"I got this for Mia...I figured she could wear it on Sundays during the season." he smiled at the thought and handed Mia the bag tag containing a Bengals shirt for Mia that had #9 on the back for her dad.

"Joe that's sweet I'm sure she will love it. Jane is going to bring her by at the end of the day so maybe you can give it to her," she said.

Later that afternoon

Sam walked up to Karleigh trying not to make it look suspicious to Joe.

"Hey Cutie," he whispered to her.

"Hey Sam..." she blushed and glanced at him.

"You look nervous? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah I'm just a little nervous about telling you who Mia's father is...and I don't want it to get in the way of us"

"I already knew. You don't have to worry, If you want to keep things between us quiet for now to not make it weird with Joe that is perfectly fine. I really like you Karleigh and I want to keep seeing you."

"Then take me out tonight," she said as she glanced up at him trying not to make it look like they were flirting.

"I'll pick you up at 6. I know exactly where I'm gonna take you. And no I'm not gonna tell you." he leaned down to whisper. "It's a surprise...but after our date...you know exactly what I'm going to do"

Chills ran down her spine just at the thought of another night with Sam. She watched him walk away then locked eyes with Joe. Joe was slightly suspicious of what was going on between Sam and Kar but he brushed it off thinking that his friend wouldn't do something like that to him.

At the end of practice

Karleigh was sitting in the bleachers watching practice not really having anything to do. She let her thoughts wander while the guys were stretching after a long day. At first, she was watching Sam and she was consumed with thoughts of how he made her feel and what he would do to her tonight. Her eyes then glided over to Joe... the man she had a history with... The man she had a child with... the man she lost her virginity to. His hand went to his face to brush his hair out of his face. Her mind flashed back to all of the times she sat behind him on the couch running her fingers through his hair. She remembered how soft it was and how he hummed while she twisted it around her fingers. She was quickly pulled out of her flashback by the sound of Mia's voice

"Mommy! Mommy!" she said running over to her.

"Oh hi, sweetie! I didn't know it was time for you to be here already," she said as she took her daughter into her embrace.
