Angel Reese-Johnson
____I collected my purse and phone before getting out of my car. As I walked up the drive way to my grandma's house, I just prayed.
They better not stress me out tonight.
I pushed the doorbell and waited for someone to come. After a few seconds of waiting my auntie came to the door.
"Hey auntie, how you doing?" I said as we gave each other a friendly hug
"I'm doing good, how you?" she asked while examining my whole look
"I'm good" I answered as we started walking towards the dining area
I could hear everybody talking and they're talking loud. My family has always been loud, literally everybody.
"Well look who decided to show up" my grandma said causing me to laugh a little
"Late" my mom said while side eyeing me
"I was handling something" I lied while sitting my purse in an empty chair, "Hey everybody"
"Hey" everybody said in unison and just by that, I knew how this dinner was gonna go
"We already started eating cause we wasn't waiting on nobody" my uncle, Jab said before I sighed at his presence
He just got out of jail and he has a lot of input. For some reason he feels entitled to everything.
Not to mention how he's very narcissistic and manipulative.
It's annoying
"Why didn't y'all wait?"
"Angel you thirty minutes late" my brother said before I rolled my eyes and made my way out
I made my way into the kitchen seeing food laid out. Picking up a clean plate, I begin to fix my food.
After filling up my plate, I fixed something to drink before going back.
"So what you been up to little girl?" my grandma asked before I shook my head
"I've been working and I been in the house on my down time" I answered truthfully before bowing my head and holding up my finger for everybody to hush
I blessed my food before proceeding
"So why don't you call anybody or shoot a text on your down time?" my auntie asked before I looked at her
"Does everybody have common sense or are y'all still at each other's neck?"
"Angel" my mom said in a stern voice while giving me a 'chill out' facial expression
"I'm just asking genuinely cause the answer to that determines my answer"
"Y'all kids grow up and become rebellious" my grandma said before I looked at her
"Alright, I apologize" I apologized for the sake of my peace, "Damn"
"But what she saying is that, you can call us sometimes" Uncle Jab spoke before I heard somebody suck their teeth
"You don't even call us, so that goes for you too" my auntie said before everybody agreed
"I just got out of jail two months ago, so my phone ain't got no service" he said and nobody entertained him
"I think everybody problem is that nobody is concerned about this family. Nobody putting the family first" my mom said, she's right
"Because nobody wanna be adults and talk. I just want everybody to be happy and get along" my grandma said as I ate from my plate
"I feel that, so what can we do to get back on track?" My mom asked before it got silent and I continued to eat
