Poseidon

How then can you know how much you want to be loved if you feel you've never experienced it?
How does an astronaut know they want to explore beyond if they have never been?
Because they have seen glimpses of space
I have watched for so long, I see people fall in love all the time
In books and in movies, in music and in poetry
I have come close before, I have experienced things that I think being loved would include, but I have never arrived to that final destination
I am Odysseus and love is my Ithaca
Oh, if only Poseidon, my love, would lift his wretched curse, I could return home
I could leave the spell of his charm behind me, and I could go to someone who loves me
But alas, Poseidon will not let me go, nor will he become my Ithaca
So it appears that I will never have both
I will have to choose between the curse of my infatuation, or the far future of being loved
