ELAG FOREST

__

Just as Theo said, walking straight forward from the gate beheld a large statue of none other than "The Old Couple's Squirtle". Maeve leaned in to look at the small quote underneath it. It read: "A friendly and familiar face. He will always be missed."

"Ah.." She let out a sigh, looking back at Theo, who was skimming through one of Maeve's books whilst waiting for her to finish. He had a somewhat disturbed look on his face and she realized that he was reading her book of pokemon anotomy, "So..are we going to take a tour of the new town or are we going to head to Elag Forest first?" She stated awkwardly, trying to drive his attention away from the book.

Theodore hummed in thought, thankfully handing her the book back, "At the very least, I know that CK was super hyped to see you. He'll definitely want you to stop by before we head to the forest," He reasoned, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Maeve nodded, raising a hand to Honey, who still rested upon her head. "Hey, Honey, do you think you could move to my bag?" She asked, "My neck kind of hurts. You can move back after we're done talking, okay?"

Honeycreeper extended his wings in a stretch, and let out a tired coo, hopping onto Maeve's extended hand. He peeked into her bag, but shrunk back after seeing all of the books. Despite the fact that they were put in neatly and in incredible order, it wouldn't have been too comfy of a bed considering how hard the spines were.

"What? Too hard?" Maeve guessed, looking down to Honey, who stayed put in her palm.

"Oh- hang on, here." Theo slipped off his jacket and folded it up neatly. He shoved it into Maeve's bag, patting here and there before holding his hand out, offering it to Honey.

The bird almost seemed to lift a non-existent eyebrow, before hopping from Maeve's hand to her bag, eventually settling down comfortably. Maeve smiled up at Theo, "Thanks."

Theo shrugged with a bashful smile, "Let's head to CK's." He offered, leading Maeve up a small flight of stone stairs to the nearby Sawsbuck Cafe. The cafe was indeed much bigger than she remembered. It was no longer crawling with vines with Wormadam hanging here and there. It did still have an occasional pokemon hopping along, but it had lost it's cozy nature-type look, and was replaced with something a bit more modern.

Maeve let out a light sigh as they approached the building. Almost immediately, two familiar smiling faces burst through the entrance of the cafe. One was a tall man with wild black curls springing from this way and that. He wore the typical green apron with the Sawsbuck head as the official logo, hence the only required article of clothing to serve as the uniform of the Sawsbuck Cafe.

His companion, a Mawile, only reaching his knees in height, also wore the same apron. It was a bit long, but her hops were an effective enough way of traveling that thankfully ignored the inconvenience of the apron.

The Mawile in question looked a tad bit different compared to others Mawile. Her bangs hung over her eyes, hiding them from sight when looking at her from the front. Maeve recalled that she and CK would often wear matching clothes, and she assumed that that still rung true to this day.

"Daaaaaamn, girl! Is that really "little miss hermit" herself?!" CK, the young man with the apron cackled. Maeve rolled her eyes, but accepted his tight hug.

"I expected you to be somewhere out of The Village. But you're running a Sawsbuck Cafe?" Maeve stepped back, crossing her arms, "Thought you and Momo had bigger plans than that." As she says this, she holds up her fist, and Momo, the Mawile happily hops up and retaliates with her monstrous ponytail to Maeve's fist.
