A WEEK LATER...
Aaron and I parked my car at Damion's house again. Damion meets us at the door, and of course, looks right at my scar. It's not completely healed yet, so the lines of the cut are still red. DAMION: "What the hell is that?" He looked over to Aaron. DAMION: "Did you do that?" AARON: "No. It was Jake." Damion's eyes widened. And the two of them walked away as Aaron began explaining what had happened. I hesitate before I step inside the house, memories filling my head and then take deep breaths. I walk to the kitchen and get myself a juice box.
I find a really pretty girl and I begin to dance with her. I've gained more confidence in my relationship with Aaron, so I decide to tease him a little bit. I start to dance a little differently with the girl and she seems to be interested. We get pretty close, and I set my hands on her waist. I move my hands up her body and put them on her shoulders. We both lean closer to each other, our faces almost touch. That's when Aaron pulls me away from her and gives her a deadly stare. AARON: "Try something like that again, and I'll make it so you can't walk home." I move Aaron away from her and laugh.
JANE: "Hey, I was just teasing you. She's not doing anything to me. And you promised not to hurt innocent people anymore." Aaron looked at me, jealous. AARON: "Don't do that again, or I will end up hurting someone. You're mine, remember?" JANE: "I don't belong to anyone, you know that." Aaron pinned me to a wall and got close to me. He's gotten serious again since the night with Jake happened.
AARON: "You don't understand. You've taken the next step with me. You don't get to play with my heart like that. Don't do the things we do. Don't talk to people the way we do. It makes me jealous." I laughed. JANE: "Oh really? Why would you get jealous of either guys with me? You should be more worried when I'm around girls. I'm attracted to them too, you know." AARON: "You're only attracted to me." I shook my head.
JANE: "Don't be stubborn like that. I can like whoever I want." AARON: "Would you be fine if I did this to a girl at this party? Or if I treated her the way I treat you?" I gave him a serious look. JANE: "Don't you ever hurt anyone else the way you hurt me. I'd rather it be me than anyone else. They wouldn't be able to handle it the way I can." Aaron shook his head and chuckled. AARON: "Really? I meant this... Flirting with her, holding her like this, being nice and protective over her. Wouldn't you be jealous?"
JANE: "I don't believe in jealousy. I would be proud of you if you treated other girls as nicely as you treat me sometimes. And as long as you have their consent, you can do whatever you want to them, it's not my business." AARON: "You wouldn't be even one bit jealous if I did this to a girl in front of you?" He moved the hair on my face behind my ear.
He held my chin as he leaned in and gently kissed me on the lips. He moved away to see my reaction. JANE: "Nope. Not one bit. We're not in a relationship so I don't care. I won't judge you." AARON: "Something tells me you're not being honest with yourself. There's no way you wouldn't be jealous. It wouldn't bother you that I'm sharing your attention with someone else?" I shook my head and chuckled. JANE: "No. How many times do I have to tell you?"
AARON: "Infinite." Aaron leaned in to kiss me again, but then suddenly stopped and pushed away from me. I gave him a confused look, wondering why he moved away. JANE: "Hey, it's okay. I'm not drunk or anything. And I'm okay with it, really." Aaron shook his head. AARON: "That's not it. I was testing you. Damn, you didn't get annoyed or frustrated at all. You really don't get jealous, huh? Is it because you know that I want you the most?"
JANE: " No. I wouldn't know if you wanted to do these things with me more or not. I just don't get jealous because I know that we don't belong to each other. We don't have an obligation to each other. Because we're not in a relationship." Aaron pulled away more. AARON: "Ouch." JANE: "What? It's true." AARON: "You're telling me that after what we almost did, multiple times and one of them you were the one to start, after I've touched you and kissed you when nobody else has before, after you spent nights at my house, used my shower, wore my clothes, and slept in my bed, spent the day hanging out with criminals... And then everything we've been through before all this... You're telling me that we're not in a relationship."
JANE: "Well, I mean... Yeah. We haven't said anything to the other about it, neither of us has asked the other. And I never even told you that I have feelings for you again, which I remember saying specifically that I didn't have any." Aaron moved towards me so close that our noses were almost touching. AARON: "Don't even try. You may not have your old feelings for me... But damn, you definitely have some kind of feelings for me. Look at you, you're flirting with me, you actually tried to get me to take advantage of you while being drunk... I know you've never done anything like this with anyone else... And you like it, don't you? So don't tell me you don't have feelings for me. Yes you fucking do." I looked away, bashful. Aaron smirked.
AARON: "You know I'm right. You're blushing again." I looked back into his eyes. This is gonna hurt on his side. JANE: "You're wrong. You're not the only one I've done things like this with. There was someone el-" He put one hand over my mouth. He wasn't flirting anymore. He was dead serious, like before. The expression on his face made my nerves tingle with panic. AARON: "Stop. You're lying. Don't fucking mess with me like that. I will hurt you. And I'll want to, all the way." I moved his hand away from my mouth.
JANE: "I'm not lying. You know I never lie. How do you think I'm good at flirting with you? Or the other night... When I was drunk in your bed with you... How do you think I know what I'm doing?" Aaron looks away, frustrated that I'm right. AARON: "Who? Who stole you from me?" JANE: "It doesn't matter. They didn't-" AARON: "-Yes it does. I'm going to fucking kill them."
JANE: "Aaron, stop. We didn't really do anything. It was one of my best friends, I had a crush on her and I practiced with her for fun. Whether-" Aaron looks around for Emma. AARON: "A girl? Who? Was it that girl who was with you before? Goddammit, I swear, if it's her... I should have hurt her that day..." I pulled Aaron back to me before he began looking for Emma. JANE: "Aaron! It wasn't her, okay? You don't know this girl, don't worry about it. And, no. You're not going to hurt anybody anymore, remember? Like I said... We didn't do anything really."
AARON: "Don't tell me that. Practice still counts as doing something. Once you do it, that's it. There's no take backs..." JANE: "That's what I'm trying to tell you! I didn't do that with her! I just flirted with her and we both complimented each other about our bodies! It was all for fun, it wasn't anything serious!"
AARON: "Tell me... Did she kiss you? Did she touch you? Fuck, I bet you like her better than me, don't you? She's not an asshole like me. She was probably nicer wasn't she?" JANE: "Don't overthink it! Stop getting jealous over nothing. We didn't kiss, and there is no better. It wasn't anything in the first place." AARON: "Don't you ever leave me for a girl, you hear me? You do that, and I'll hurt you both."
JANE: "Aaron, we're not together. And you can't just threaten me into a relationship with you. You're not going to hurt anyone." AARON: "I don't give a fuck. Nobody else can have you." JANE: "You can't either." AARON: "Don't say that. I want you. Only you."
JANE: "So? You can't just assume that I want you too and then threaten me. Aaron, if you want to be with me... Just ask me. It's that simple." Aaron grabbed me and pulled me to him by my waist. AARON: "Fine then. Will you be mine?" I laughed. JANE: "What kind of way to ask is that? It's not Valentine's Day. And like I told you, I don't belong to anyone."
AARON: "Fuck, stop teasing me. I asked, didn't I?" I looked down and then back into his eyes. JANE: "Okay... My answer is yes. I'll be your girlfriend." Aaron's face brightened. I have seen his true smile in forever.
AARON: "Really?" I nodded and laughed as he began to kiss my neck.
