I woke up to see Aaron sleeping peacefully next to me. I smile and reach to brush my hand through his hair but then I stop. My head is ringing with alarms as the drowsy feeling fades away. I sit up quickly as everything sinks into my brain.
The water... It was drugged. As the drug wears off quickly, and the alcohol is gone from my system. I became myself again. Everything from last night flashes back into my memories and I cover my mouth blushing. What did I get myself into?! I realize Aaron must have drugged me to sleep so I wouldn't pressure him any further.
I'm hungover with an awful headache as I carefully and quietly sneak out of his room. I pull my shirt down further than his boxers and become self conscious about wearing his clothes. I creep past Damion who is asleep on the couch. As I walk to the front door, I feel a presence behind me. Suddenly, someone wraps their arms around me.
AARON: "I told you I'd keep an eye on you." I turn and blush, the atmosphere between us has made me uncomfortable. He reaches for my chin and I turn my head. He stops. AARON: "You're back to your old self then?" I nod as I peel him away from me, uncomfortable.
AARON: "I said I was sorry, didn't I? Just forget what happened yesterday." I look at him with disbelief in my eyes. JANE: "How could I forget? You hurt me. And not only that, you hurt my friend. And then you kidnapped me, taking me hostage." AARON: "If you wanna leave, take your clothes from the laundry room and go. I won't keep you here anymore. You're free to go."
Even though I should have left, I didn't move an inch. For some reason, my body just didn't want to go. He got closer to me and put his hand on the door, right next to my face. AARON: "What? You wanna stay?" I turned my head, embarrassed. AARON: "I thought you said you were yourself. Aren't you afraid? Aren't you angry?" I shook my head.
JANE: "You said you won't take advantage of me. You did the right thing yesterday." Aaron closed the space between us. Our noses were so close to touching. AARON: "That was yesterday. You were drunk. But, you're not drunk now. So it doesn't mean that I'll do the right thing today." JANE: "You stopped yourself last night, didn't you? You were in control of yourself."
AARON: "I was only able to hold back because it was wrong not to. But now..." He turned his head and looked down at my lips. Our lips were centimeters away. He was about to kiss me when Damion shouted at us. DAMION: "I'm right here! You guys just don't have any respect, do you?"
Aaron smirked and moved away from me. I walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge. JANE: "What do you have to eat? I'm starving." Aaron gave me a dirty look. AARON: "I don't know." His tone was flirty and dominant. DAMION: "Well, good morning to you too. Anyways... How long are you planning to stay here, Jane?" I turned to Damion and made the same face Aaron did as I answered Damion in the same tone as Aaron.
JANE: "I don't know." I copied Aaron's reply. Aaron walked up to me and lifted me up. He sat me on the counter and gave me a seductive look. AARON: "Don't mimic me." I laughed and copied him again, with a deeper voice. JANE: "Don't mimic me." He leaned closer to me and set my legs on each side of his waist.
I was at the perfect height to where I could feel the bump of his groin in between my legs. I was wearing his boxers and he was only wearing boxers so there wasn't much fabric in between us. Damion shook his head. DAMION: "Take it to the room. Jesus, you guys have no shame." Aaron backed away. I chuckled at what Damion said.
JANE: "I'm not the type of girl to do even a fraction of the things going through your head. Aaron would know." Aaron smirks at me. AARON: "Well, the way you were acting last night says something different." JANE: "That's... different, I was drunk." AARON: "Hey, no need to be in denial. Everyone gets horny, it's not something to be embarrassed about."
JANE: "Ha, nice try. I don't get horny. I don't even think about doing the things you do, let alone actually do them." Damion looked at me, surprised. DAMION: "Wait... Are you a virgin? That's adorable." I look at him with a bored look. Aaron gave him a warning look and Damion raised his hands in defense as Aaron started to make breakfast.
He put pieces of bread in the toaster and started to cook some eggs. I looked around for my phone, realizing I haven't contacted anyone in over 24 hours. JANE: "Hey, whatever happened to my phone?" AARON: "I'm gonna be keeping it for now." I chuckled. JANE: "Oh, are you scared I'm going to call someone? That I'm going to rat you out?" Aaron looked at me with a serious face.
AARON: "Don't joke about things like that. And I'm not scared you'll call the cops, Jane." JANE: "Then why do you feel the need to keep my phone?" Aaron didn't answer and ignored the question. He set our plates down and sat next to me. He motioned Damion to come eat too. It was a Sunday, during the summer, and I wondered what the two of them were doing today.
JANE: "Hey, what are you guys up to today? What are we going to do?" AARON: "We aren't going to do anything. You're going to leave after breakfast." JANE: "Why? What's going on today?" He ignored me again. I stopped eating. JANE: "Aaron, you can't just keep ignoring me." Aaron stops eating and looks at me, annoyed. AARON: "Fine. A group of some not-so-good guys are coming here soon. That's why I want you to leave." I chuckled, thinking it was a joke. But his face didn't change.
JANE: "Oh, you're serious. Well, what kind of bad people?" I could tell that he wanted to keep this from me, because I wouldn't like to hear what he was going to say. AARON: "People like my brother." My smile disappeared and I froze. JANE: "What?" Aaron stayed the same. AARON: "You heard me." I gave him a look full of betrayal.
JANE: "Y-You're working with him? Don't tell me you've joined him. Why would you ever do that?" Aaron looked at me with fury in his eyes. AARON: "I would never be on that bastard's side. He got out of jail a few months ago, and ever since Damion and I have been meeting up with his group and talking about some business. Not a good business. Me and Damion are trying to dig up dirt on them to take him down. But we have to get close to them first. They're meeting us today."
JANE: "Well, I don't care. I want to stay-" Aaron didn't even let me finish. AARON: "-No." JANE: "Why can't I stay?" Aaron looked annoyed as he answered. AARON: "Don't act dumb, Jane. You know there's no way in hell that I'm letting you stay here with a group of guys who are older, stronger, and so much fucking worse than Damion and I are."
JANE: "You know your brother doesn't scare me, Aaron. Neither do the other guys." Aaron shook his head, angry. AARON: "Stop. I don't give a fuck if they don't scare you. That doesn't matter if they can still hurt you." I chuckled. JANE: "You know I can protect-" Before I could finish, Aaron suddenly got up and pushed me back. He pinned me to the fridge.
AARON: "-Goddammit, Jane! Stop with this shit! My brother's the same as before. He still wants to hurt you. If he saw you here... Like this... Who knows what he'd do..." JANE: "I don't care. I can protect myself just like I did before." Aaron just got angrier.
AARON: "Would you really be able to protect yourself? You won't have to fight just my brother... You'll have to fight them all. And you won't just have to defend yourself from them. You'd have to defend yourself from me." I shook my head as I smiled.
JANE: "Why would I need to defend myself from you? You're on my side." AARON: "Don't you get it? My brother won't just hurt you. He'll make me hurt you too. So how are you going to protect yourself against all of them as well as me?"
JANE: "You're overthinking it. I would never allow it to get as bad as yesterday." AARON: "Are you still fucking drunk or something? You're not invincible, they will do much worse than yesterday. You think what happened then and all those years ago is bad? Then you can't imagine what they'll all do to you now. They've been to jail, they're all criminals. You really don't wanna be around when they get here." I shook my head.
JANE: "I trust you." AARON: "You shouldn't. You need to leave." Aaron moved me towards the door, but I stopped myself. JANE: "I don't wanna." I tell him with an attitude. AARON: "Jane, they'll tear you apart. Why can't you understand that?" I smiled. JANE: "I do. But I've already been through the worst. Things like that don't scare me."
AARON: "You haven't been through anything yet. You know my brother could threaten to hurt me too, right? What if he threatens to kill me unless you do what he says? He knows what you're willing to do to protect the people you care about. I'm not the one who came up with that idea." I think for a second...
JANE: "Oh, I know. I just won't let him hurt you, obviously." Aaron moved closer to me. AARON: "How are you gonna do that?" I move closer to Aaron. Suddenly, I grab his arm and pull it behind him. I pushed him down to the ground, and slightly put pressure on his arm. JANE: "Something like that." AARON: "How are you going to keep them all away at once? They could just grab you at the same time and keep you down." I shake my head.
JANE: "If I dodge them all and make them run into things or even throw things at them, then they won't all be able to get to me." Aaron turns and gets up quickly. He slams me into the fridge, and my back cracks from the handle. My whole body begins to ache again from the day before. I make a painful face but I quickly hide the pain away from Aaron. He releases me, realizing I'm in pain.
AARON: "Fuck. I'm sorry." Suddenly, a car pulls into the driveway. DAMION: "Yeah, we're screwed. They're here."
