Kimiko rolled her eyes as she looked at the clock. So far this has been the longest five minutes of her life. Finally the bell had rang and all her fellow students walked out the classroom door. She followed them out like they were one messed up creature. Miko never really like the students in her school, they were all too popular and prestigious. The only reason why she was in this school was because her father was the headmaster. It wasn't her choice to go there. If it was her choice, she would've been gone years ago.

Nothing new ever happened in her little town of "pissing contests" and games of "Who's richer". It wasn't really a town, it was more like a prison. Well, that's what she thought anyway.

Kimiko sighed as her neighbor, Kotori, waved at her. She had the brightest pink hair and acted like she was the most important person on planet Earth around other people. Around Miko, she was nice and friendly. Miko always wondered how and why she had so much enthusiasm. She waved back.

She split off from the group of diamond encrusted snobs and turned down the street towards her part time job. Kimiko took a part time job because it made her feel like a normal seventeen year old girl. Not one who gets everything handed to her on a silver platter with golden dipping sauce of her choosing.

She lifted her braid up, put her apron on, and tied it behind her back in a nice neat bow. Kimiko walked into the kitchen of Candi's Cuppycakes and started frosting the newest items that would soon be savored by hungry customers. She adjusted her eye patch and got to work with the strawberry frosting, occasionally getting it on her fingers and licking it off. She hummed a little tune to herself and swayed her body side to side to the melody.

She heard a silent chuckle and whipped her head around, frosting bag in hand, as a makeshift weapon. Kimiko was face to face with a boy that looked about her age. He had white hair and the lightest blue eyes she had ever seen. He was mesmerizing.

"Kimiko?" He asked, his almost white eyes widened.

"How do you know my name?" She asked defensively. "And who are you? I've got frosting! And I'm not afraid to use it!" Her threat wasn't very threatening.

He laughed again, as if shaking it off. "It's on your name tag."

She looked down and sure enough, she was wearing her name tag, but the look in his eyes made it seem like he knew her. Miko could not shake the feeling that something was off about this boy. "You didn't answer my other question."

"Sorry. My Name's Jun." He smiled widely. She could've sworn he had fangs, but that was probably because she already thought he was weird.

Kimiko placed the bag of sugary stickiness back on the table and brushed her apron off. "Well you already know my name. Do you need anything or are you just going to stand there?" She rolled her green eyes, or at least the one showing.

"The sign says 'Help Wanted'." He pointed his thumb over his shoulder that the front door.

"Oh. Right." She laughed dryly, embarrassed that she didn't remember the help wanted sign.

"When do I start?" Jun was serious, but his eyes told another story.

Kimiko didn't think he looked that dangerous, and so far he was the most normal person that came by asking for the job. Well sort of normal. "Well..." She trailed off, thinking for a brief moment. "I guess now if you would like. You're hired." She sighed and got back to frosting the last of the vanilla cupcakes.

"Okay." He nodded and went into the staff room to grab an apron. He came back with an awkward grin and a pink apron that said "Be My Cuppycake" on the front. His face was bright red.

"It was the only one they had left." He scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment.

Miko stifled a laugh as Jun grabbed a bowl of red velvet batter and started mixing it with a whisk. He wasn't that messy, so Kimiko left briefly to go get the rest of the strawberries out of the fridge. She was just about to grab the red berries when she heard a shriek then a crash. Miko grabbed an ice tray and rushed back into the kitchen. She stopped when she saw what happened.

The red velvet batter was all over the floor and walls, the metal bowl was still spinning on the rim, and Jun was pointing under the table on the far side of the room. It looked like a crime scene.

Kimiko rolled her eyes and sighed. "There's nothing there stupid."

"But I saw a large black snake with spikes and eyes as bright as bright itself!!" He flailed his arms around in a failed attempt to describe what he saw.

"That makes no sense. And besides, it was probably just a garden snake." She groaned and got on her hands and knees, cleaning up the mess. Jun, now recovered from his monstrous encounter, bent down to help.

"I'm sorry. It was probably just my Schizophrenia. It won't happen again." He said awkwardly.

Miko was less angry at him now that she knew it wasn't his fault. "It's fine. Just don't let it happen again." She looked away, light blush on her face.

"So Kimiko, what's up with the, you know, eye patch?" Jun asked as he flipped the sign from 'open' to 'closed'.

"My other eye is weird looking to I hide it. Just easier." She shrugged and continued to wipe down the counter and tables.

"Oh. Hey, I bet it's pretty powerful huh?"

Miko gave him a dry laugh in response. "Right...what ever you say, Schitzo..." She said sarcasm dripping from her voice.

She didn't see his reaction because she was cleaning and laughing to herself, but Jun was hurt. He bowed his head and looked at his feet.

"Hey Jun?" She asked, looking up.

Immediately, he put on a smile. "Yeah Miko?"

"Which way do you have to walk? I have to walk right at the corner."

"Oh. I have to go left, sorry." His fake smile was very believable. He's had a lot of practice, all his life to be exact.

"That's a shame." Kimiko locked the door and started walking next to Jun.

"Good bye Kimiko. I'll see you tomorrow." He waved and smiled. As soon as she wasn't facing him his smile dropped. He stood there watching her disappear into the distance. After he couldn't see her anymore, he turned left and started walking.

Kimiko walked on to her street and opened the gate that was meant to keep the 'hoodlums', as her parents called them, out of their perfect neighborhood. She opened the door to her house silently and tiptoed up the stairs, to not draw the attention of her parents. If they knew about her job, they wouldn't be happy.

She went up to her room and laid down on her bed and thought about today. Kimiko couldn't help but think about Jun.

Why did he look like he knew me? I've never net him before today. She thought. He was just so strange. Miko couldn't help but feel bad for him. He was Schizophrenic and awkward, but at least he was nice.

She closed her eyes thinking of what tomorrow would bring.
