"Mommy? What are you doing?"
"Hunny! I uh... I didn't see you there! I'm just... uh... taking some medicine! Mommy's not feeling well."
"Are you okay? Should I tell daddy to take you to the doctor?"
"No no! You can't tell daddy! I'll be okay, Hunny, I promise!"
•••••••••••When you walked into the room, Dabi was already sitting in his assigned chair with his head held down. However, when he heard the sound of your heels clicking against the floor, he picked his head up. To your surprise, you saw that he didn't wear any quirk cancelling cuffs. And for the first time, he made direct eye contact. Sure, his eyes had roamed your face before, but this was the first time his eyes met yours.
"Hello, Dabi." You greeted as your took your seat. You crossed your leg over the other, and then raised your right hand to show off the bracelet.
"Doctor." He greeted back, inspecting the bracelet up close. When he was satisfied, he slouched back into his seat.
"How are you feeling today?" You asked.
"Abnormal."
"Abnormal? Why's that?"
"I dunno."
"Does the prison have you on medication?"
"Yeah. My first few therapists made me start all these meds."
"How many?"
"I dunno. Like three."
"Do you remember the names?"
He took a moment, looking up to the ceiling as if he was trying to unlock the memory vault. "Escitalopram... Hydroxyzine... Chlorpromazine."
"Hmm.. okay." You said, unimpressed and writing them down. "Did they ever tell you what it was for?"
"No."
"Would you like for me to tell you?"
"Sure, why not? I want to know what they're doing to my brain."
"I agree. They should have told you." You let out a sigh, before sitting up straight and making eye contact with him. "Escitalopram is an SSRI, which stands for 'selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor.' Basically, it makes the nerve cells in your brain stop absorbing serotonin which is important in mood regulation. Escitalopram is used as an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication that can also help treat OCD."
"Huh, interesting."
"Hydroxyzine is an anxiety medication. It sometimes can also be used as an antihistamine. It can also decrease brain activity."
"Okay."
"Now, Chlorpromazine... it is used to treat bipolar disorder, as well as schizophrenia. It's an antipsychotic."
"Antipsychotic? The old therapists thought I was a psychopath?"
"It's a possibility, given your history." You said, clearing your throat.
"Do you think I'm a psychopath?"
"I cannot make that decision based on three sessions with you." You gave a little laugh, writing in your notes. "Hopefully as we talk more, I'll be able to give you an answer."
"Hm." He hummed, and looked up at the windows that were put high up.
"So, here is what we are going to do, since you feel abnormal taking those meds." You sighed, and looked at him after writing notes. "We're going to stop the Escitalopram and the Chlorpromazine. You can stay on the Hydroxyzine, but only as needed for anxiety."
