Kim parked on her driveway, storming out of the car angrily. She unlocked her front door with trembling hands, slamming it behind her. She leaned against the door, head in her hands as she began to sob.

It had been an awful day.

Max, the man she loved and trusted, had been lying to her this whole time. He was married to another woman.

She had, had warning after warning about Max. From Rachel, from Chris. And she hadn't listened. Max had drilled it into her head that they were the bad guys in the story, not him.

She had let Max bully Rachel. Rachel was her friend, the only one she'd had since coming back from Rwanda. And she'd stood there and let Max treat her like this. What kind of friend was she? The signs were there, red flag after red flag. But she'd refused to see them.

She'd seen herself how miserable Rachel was, and she'd done nothing, because Max had made her believe that what he was doing was right. He'd made her believe that Rachel was jealous of what they had and was out to break them up. She'd believed him over the one friend who  she knew would never lie to her.

How could she have been so stupid?

Rachel wouldn't forgive her now. Kim didn't expect her to after everything she'd done. She'd let Rachel down, she'd betrayed her. There was no coming back from that.

"Will you please let me talk to you?"

Kim jumped, lifting her head up

Max was stood in the hallway, just off the living room door. He'd been there the whole time.

She glared at him, walking passed him to go to the kitchen.

"Get out of my house!" Kim snapped

"Kim, please!"

"No, Max! No! We are done! You lied to me! You got Chris to lie for you! My friendship with Rachel is ruined because of you! She's in hospital because of what you did! Her baby is in the NICU! You're a selfish, manipulative liar! I want nothing to do with you!" Kim screamed, throwing a glass at the wall angrily, Max ducking as it smashed against the wall

"Kim, I can explain! I am getting divorced, Jenny and I, we live together but we don't get along, we haven't for years! We didn't want to kick up a fuss, so to make things easier, so we just stayed together. As room mates, nothing more. I don't love her, I love you! What Rachel's told you, it's all lies. She doesn't know anything! I'm telling you, she's jealous, she wants to break us up!" Max reasoned

Kim wasn't having any of it. Her heart no longer melted at his words, no longer believed his lies. She hated him.

"Kim?" He sighed, placing his hand on her arm

She pulled away from him, glaring at him.

"What can I do to make it up to you, Kim? I'll do anything! I can get the divorce papers ready, I'll move out of the house and move in with you. I will do anything to make it up to you Kim" he pleaded

Kim scoffed, cringing at his grovelling

"I don't want you here, Max! I despise you! If you want to make it up to me, which you never will, you can apologise to Rachel and leave Waterloo Road for good!"

"Apologise? But Kim, I didn't do anything wrong!" He exclaimed

Kim stared at him in disbelief. He really believed he'd done nothing wrong, that he was in the right.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket. She took it out, looking at a message from Eddie.

"If you want to make it up to Rachel, find Max and bring him to the hospital with you. I have a plan"

Kim frowned. She didn't know what Eddie was planning, or why Max had to come along. But she would do anything to make things right with Rachel.

"This was all Rachel, Kim," Max started, desperate to get himself out of trouble

"Shut up, Max! I've heard enough! It won't change anything. I'll tell you what you can do though"

Max looked at her hopefully.

"Yes? What is it? I'll do anything Kim!" He said

"I meant what I said. You apologise to Rachel, and then you resign from Waterloo Road" she replied

He scoffed. Kim rolled her eyes.

"Fine, forget it. I'll just call the Police and tell them you assaulted a colleague!" She threatened, grabbing her phone off the side

"Alright, alright! I'll apologise to Rachel" he said abruptly

"And?"

"And I'll resign. If that's what you want" he finished

Kim nodded

"Good, come on, we're going" she decided, grabbing her car keys

"Where?" Max frowned

"We're going to the hospital. You're going to apologise to Rachel, and then you're going to call the LEA and tell them you're resigning with immediate effect" she explained confidently

Kim saw a flash of anger in his eyes.

"And if I don't?" He questioned curiously

Kim strode up to him angrily so she was face to face with him.

"I'm not playing games here, Max. You apologise and you resign, or I will make that phone call to the Police. Do you understand me?" She growled

Max nodded, following her out of the house. The sulky expression on his face was satisfying to Kim.

She typed out a reply to Eddie before getting into the car.

"Got him. We're on our way"
