Never in Vain

Wukong laid back into his seat, basking happily in the sun.

The Underworld had been sealed tightly with the help of Nezha, Yellow Tusk, and Azure. Nobody would be able to go in or out without any of them escorting them. The scroll of memory had also been locked away, ensuring it would never be opened again.

As for the whole Jade Emperor position..?

Well, let's just say Erlang Shen has a lot more paperwork to do now. At least he has Azure and Yellow Tusk by his side to ease any future migraines.

An umbrella suddenly went up beside him, interrupting the king's thought, "Hm..?" He looked to his left and grinned, "Mac!" Macaque smiled back, sitting in his shaded spot, "D'aw, you are such a peach!" Wukong snorted, looking up at their old tree.

"No, yo-u're a p-peach!" Macaque barked out a laugh, "Fine, fine. We're both a bowl of stone fruit." They both silently watched the team play in the sand. Wukong slowly stood up, "I'm go-ing to see DBK." Macaque nodded, closing his eyes and laying back.

Demon Bull King laughed as Wukong was nearly pulled into the water by his fishing pole, "AGH! N-Not funny!"

The bull laughed harder as Azure beamed, "Look, I caught one!" The lion happily showed off a fairly large Cobia. Yellow Tusk nodded in approval, "Go give it to Pigsy, he'll know how to make a good meal with it." The lion happily rushed away, and Wukong sighed happily, "...I like t-this."

DBK smiled somberly, nudging his brother gently, "Me, too, simian."

MK screeched as the volleyball hurdled towards him, causing him to dodge.

He sat up as the sand settled, "That was amazing, Princess Iron Fan!" Mei clapped as well, looking at the older woman with awe, "Can you teach me?!" The maiden glowed under their praise as Red Son seethed, "And do it to us with literally anything?! Mother, please don't--"

"You must gather up all of your need to win and use it...TO DESTROY YOUR COMPETITION." She held up her fist firmly as Mei nodded along, "Got it!"

"MOTHER!" Red Son gaped at her in betrayal, "Oh, hush, I'm sure your partners aren't going to kill you." Red's hair flared as his face flushed, successfully shutting his mouth.

MK cooed, "You aren't denying it~!" Mei nodded along, smirking joyously, "Aww~!"

If the beach abruptly went up a couple degrees for a few seconds, no it didn't.

Pigsy yelled out, "TIME 'TA EAT!"

Tang sat with Sandy as he watched the chef at work, "Oh, great!" Pigsy shot the scholar a look, "You've been snacking this whole time."

Wukong arrived last, having been making sure everyone was there before shyly standing before Pigsy. The chef's lip quirked slightly upward as he served the king, "Feel free to ask for more, Wukong. We've got more than enough." The monkey beamed, "T-Thanks!"

He sat beside MK, nudging him playfully. The brunette grinned, "Hi!" Wukong cleared his throat, "So, m-monk-ey form, huh?" His successor bashfully rubbed his arm, "I...I like it. But I still need to get used to it. Think you can help?"

Wukong nodded, "It's ea-sy. Eeeesy. E-a-see-- You get it." He pouted, eating slowly. MK laughed, "Easy! I'll get the hang of it."

Helping the boy converge to and from one form to another was simple. Getting used to his instincts, however, was less simple.

"...I ate a bug." MK gagged, holding his throat, 'I wasn't thinking and I ATE A BUG!" Wukong shoved him lightly, "It's nor-mal." The brunette wheezed, "Oh, hell noooo!" Macaque sat up from where he'd been grooming some of the little ones, "Uhm, Wukong's right, bud. Grooming includes extracting bugs, and bugs are good protein."

MK shook his head in horror, "I don't wanna eat bugs, though!" His tail flailed behind him as he leaned away, "I thought bein' a monkey meant being cute and cheeky!" Wukong gave him a look, "...MK. Never s-say that ag-ain."

MK suddenly sat up, "Oh! You guys want to come have dinner with me and the other's?" Macaque immediately set his attention on the boy, "Yes." Wukong nodded along, casually raking his fingers through MK's hair.

This was fun.

Of course it was, Wukong was with his... his family. Everyone was here, even Nezha and the bull family. And it was perfect.

Petty teases, jokes, laughter, and somber voices moved along the air. The warmth of the shop eased any anxiety that could exist in the world as everyone ate, complimenting Pigsy as always.

Wukong leaned against Macaque, enjoying his warmth. Everything was perfect, and he was more than happy. This was all he'd ever wanted, after all. A home, joy in his heart, good meals to share...

A family.

Azure glanced over at Wukong and smiled, looking happier than Wukong had ever seen him. The monkey smiled back, getting up from his spot against Macaque and walked over, "Big B-Blue."

"Little Orange."

The teasing smile lit up the lion's eyes as Wukong let out a laugh. They stood in their silence for a few moments, "...I missed be-ing your fam-ily." Azure looked down in surprise, "I...I did, too." He smiled softly as he looked away, "I like this. It's nice, I promise Yellow Tusk and I will visit often." Wukong leaned against his brother, "You b-better!" They laughed, accidentally causing Wukong to fall over and making their laughter grow.

DBK leaned over snickering at his fallen brother, "Looks like someone's having a good time." Wukong sat up, sticking out his tongue before leaping onto the bull's shoulder, "You for-get I can b-beat you anytime!" He playfully punched the bull king, weakly pushing his fists against his shoulders.

DBK reached up, grabbing the monkey by the back of his sweater, "HAH! That you can, younger brother." Macaque appeared, ambushing the Demon Bull King playfully, "Ha ha! Gotcha now, you big ass cow." Wukong cheered as Macaque avoided the bull's free hand, "Avenge m-me, Mac!"

Yellow Tusk suddenly reached up and plucked the warrior off of their brother, "Macaque! Ambushing is cheating!" Macaque smirked, not minding the fact he was dangling in the air, "Oh, what's so fun about playing square?" Wukong squealed, "F-fair and square! The saying is fa-ir and square!"

They all laughed, basking in their warmth as they continued to tease and jab each other as the night continued on.
