"You're what?!" Ichigo questioned, his brown eyes widening in surprise. Orihime , who was also shocked, seemed to have taken the information better.
"Yes.... I'm getting married..." Rukia beamed at them like a rabbit that had just found a stack of carrots. She placed her left hand on the table to reveal the beautiful silver ring which had a shiny sapphire gem embedded at the center. She was excited.
"I'm surprised someone wants to marry you....poor Renji." Ichigo teased with a smirk on his face and Rukia shoved the cake Orihime had served her right at him. Rukia grinned menacingly at her masterpiece while Ichigo swore he would emit steam from his ears if he didn't pay her back.
"Please.... No fighting in the bakery!..." Orihime pleaded and just like that, the scowl was wiped off his face. Rukia continued babbling happily about the plans she and her fiance had made. Orihime watched her with a smile on her face. She was happy for her friend but that familiar pang of loneliness stabbed at her heart. She wished to get married as well. She'd dreamed of it since she was a little girl. The only person she could see as her groom was obliviously sitting right next to her and it hurt.
If only she knew.
Ichigo felt Orihime's thigh brush his own once, maybe twice or he'd lost count. It was a bit distracting and he tried to will his strange thoughts away. Thoughts of wanting to touch her and hold her in his arms. He wasn't naive. Even though he hadn't lost his V-card yet, he was still very much aware of the happenings in the bedroom. He could thank the internet for that later. He blushed once he realized where his thoughts were headed. He really hoped noone noticed his embarrassment. Ichigo wasn't one to easily express his affections in public places.
"Actually.... Since you're already back, let's all go out tonight.... The rest of the gang's around... Chad will be leaving by Sunday.... This is our chance to hit the bar!" Rukia clasped her hands together, her eyes glinting in excitement.
And also our chance to put you lovebirds together for once.... She smirked at the thought.
Orihime grinned and grabbed hold of Ichigo's hand under the table. She turned to face him and he just had to say, her smile was infectious.
"We could go to Neliel, Hallibel and Grim's bar... They call it 'THE ARRANCAR'...." Orihime explained to Ichigo who hadn't been around for years.
"Nel owns a bar?!.... With Grimmjow?!... How's it not taken a nosedive by now?" He had to ask. "Hallibel's practically the manager...." Rukia explained and he scoffed. That would be the only valid reason the building hasn't been burnt to the ground.
"Oh.... And I'm inviting Riruka too... She's so adorable..." Rukia gushed and Ichigo groaned. She could invite the whole planet for all he cared.
