Ichigo and Orihime spent more time after that day. He'd taken her to aquariums, Amusement parks and even a petting zoo. Sometimes, she would come over to his house after work to check if he was eating right. That usually led to her cooking for him and having dinner. On occasion, she'd sleep over when it got too late and they'd spend hours and hours talking about random things like what Ichigo would look like with black hair. Or if Rukia were taller.
Orihime was beginning to get used to spending time with Ichigo. One night she'd been really upset when Ichigo apologized because he was really busy and couldn't spend more time with her. She realized that she was becoming more clingy and it scared her. She was supposed to tell him how she felt and instead she was enjoying the time he gave her. She was disappointed in herself. How could she get so carried away?
She immediately pulled out her phone to give him a call. He didn't pick up. She was sure he was still working but it was around one in the morning and she wondered if he would be getting any sleep . She realized how impulsive her decision was when he called back ten minutes later. She had made him worried.
"Y-yes?" She stuttered out. She heard Ichigo let out a breath on the other end of the call.
"You called.... Are you okay?...." His voice sounded more worried. She didn't call often. She mostly texted him and it was rather late. Or early. He was scared something happened to her.
"I-i'm fine.... I .... I just wanted to talk to you about something...." She couldn't believe she was doing this.
"Okay?.... Go on...." He urged her and her face went pale.
"N-no.... Ummm.... I meant in person.... Uh...will you be free tomorrow.... You could come over....I'm sorry, I'm sure you're tired...." She was so flustered.
"'Hime...." He breathed out her name to calm her down and she did. Then he continued
" It's okay.... I'll see you tomorrow.... I'm free ... I'll be at your apartment in the afternoon, alright?" He gently explained. Orihime sighed. She was glad she didn't mess it all up.
"Um... Ichigo.... You mean today... It's morning actually...." She giggled as she realized. Ichigo scoffed on the other end of the line. She always had a way to surprise him.
"Get some sleep, 'Hime.... See you later..." He whispered and hung up after she responded with a "yes sir!" He was sure she saluted on her end. He wondered what she wanted to tell him. All the dates he'd taken her on were for him to observe if she was happy with him. She seemed happy. He wanted to finally tell her. Maybe he'd tell her tomorrow. He'd waited a while, hadn't he?
