Harry walked in he sat in the first seat with Neville so Draco and Blaise sat together. The class room quickly filled up and the new teacher finally walked in. He seemed very chipper, and immediately pulled Harry up to the front. Harry frowned and tried to sit down, to no avail. The teacher introduced himself as Gilderoy Lockhart. Harry thought he still seemed pretty creepy, but he didn't voice his opinion. He was excited to actually learn something this year. The old man had taken over teaching last year, after the Black fiasco, and they hadn't really learned anything. Harry finally sat down and listened intently to the professor. Lockhart talked about himself nonstop. Finally Harry was done and pulled out one of his textbooks, his father had gotten him an advanced copy of defense against the dark. Harry had currently read and understood three chapters, but as this was a book he wouldn't need until seventh year at the latest, he was going through it slowly. He got lost in the book, ignoring Lockhart completely. Until Lockhart walked over and grabbed his book, "Detention Mr. Potter. Even celebrities like us need to pay attention in class. I'll have this book back after class." Harry sighed and nodded, he listened as the oaf prattled on more about his many adventures, until the class finally ended. He went to get his book and find out when he would need to see his professor for detention. He wasn't sure his father would be happy with him, but Harry trusted that nothing too bad would happen.
