I drove back up to the hospital. She was still in surgery.

My eyes was filling with tears, but when the nurse yelled I wiped em.
"CLIFFORD SAYLES?"

"Yes, hi, so she's out of surgery, and everything went smoothly. As you may know she's gonna have to stay here for overnight before she could be released. It will take about six weeks for her jaw to completely heal. She can't talk that much so she's gonna have a pencil and paper to communicate with you all. Also being the fact that her left arm is fractured that cast is gonna hold the bones in place to where they could heal properly. Her whole body is still aching and bruised, but that's gonna heal quicker than you think. Any other questions before you go and see her?"
