I'll Be There For You

Chapter 2

Emily returns the kiss as she wraps her arms around his neck while he wraps his arms around her waist. She soon pulls back from the kiss. Leaning her forehead against his.

"Did we just?"

"Kiss? Yes, we did. I've been wanting to do that for a long time."

"Me too. Well, now you can kiss me anytime you want. I've been wanting to kiss you, too."

Emily smiles at him as she wraps her arms around his neck.

"Well, I am very happy to hear you say that. I was beginning to think that what was going on was maybe one sided. I'm so glad that it's not."

Sonny shakes his head as he wraps his arms around her waist even tighter.

"Your parents not to mention your grandparents aren't going to be thrilled about it. Especially your father and I'd love to have his blessing for when the time comes and I ask him for your hand in marriage."

Emily looks at him smiling when all of a sudden a couple of tears fall down her face.

"Oh, Sonny! You really see yourself wanting to have a family with me someday?"

Sonny returns the smile as he leans in gently wiping away her tears.

"Yes, Angel, I see the two of us having a very happy life together someday. When you're ready."

Emily returns the smile.

"I love the sound of that. But, I think you're forgetting something."

Sonny looks at her as he wraps his arms around her waist even tighter.

"Oh, and what is it that I'm forgetting about, sweetheart?"

Emily turns to look at him seriously.

"You're married to Carly, remember. At least you were before my parents shipped me off to rehab. What's happened since I left?"

Sonny looks at her as he sighs in frustration which only makes him even more angry at himself.

"Things have been difficult."

Emily pulls back so she can look into his eyes.

"Really? What do you mean? Don't tell me you've been cheating on me with her while we've been apart this entire time. Is that what you're trying to say?"

Sonny looks at her as he shakes his head as he reaches out taking her hands into his holding onto them tight.

"No, absolutely not. The only woman I have ever been fully committed to is you. Emily, you are who I want to be with. No one else."

Emily smiles hearing his words as she reaches out to hug him.

"I love you, Sonny. I know that I shouldn't have said that but I didn't want to go through this without telling you how I feel. You don't have to say anything back. I just wanted you to know how I feel."

Sonny smiles at her as he leans in gently cupping both sides of her face in his hands.

"I love you, too. Emily. You, remember what I told you when we first started this?"

Emily returns the smile.

"If I ever need you all I had to do was call and you'd be there for me in a heartbeat. That meant the world to me, Sonny."

Sonny leans into her kissing softly on the lips before pulling back and kisses the back of her hand.

"I meant every word, Emily. I can't wait to show everyone just how much you mean to me. I'm going to be here helping you through this every step of the way. All right, I'm not going anywhere. Come on, let's go home."
