My mind is spinning. Luis? I just can't associate the man standing in front of me with the Luis I know, the guy who's in love with Maeve, who would do anything for her. I'm pulled out of my reverie by Luis, who is talking.
" I don't think I really need to explain what the rules are here, any of you move, she dies." Luis drags a finger across his throat, rolling his eyes back and making a gagging sound.
Watching this poor, sick, imitation, of the guy I used to know, rage pooled inside me, taking over my fear for my sister.
"Fuck you, Luis."
He just sighed.
"Why" my voice cracks as I ask the question, not even sure I want the answer. Nate puts an arm around my waist, holding me afloat, my buoy in the middle of the ocean.
Luis cocked his head to the side.
"But I told you, back in the café. Well, the start, at least.
He moves his gaze onto Maeve, who stares back, tears filling in her eyes, threatening to spill out. I can see hurt and heartbreak in her face, and my heart aches for her.
"Maeve had a relationship with Simon, as you now know. You also know that Simon enacted to have sex with her, and this ungrateful wretch said no. What you don't know, is that I was friends with Simon, and he told me everything, that when she refused, Simon got, rightfully, angry, and a bit violent. This bitch, slapped him, told him he was a price of shit, broke his heart, and never spoke to him again. She was part of the reason he was depressed, and, if you ask me, she was the reason he wanted to die. So now she'll pay. All this time, I've treated you right, made you feel special, and now I get to watch you burn."
"You're a fucking liar." Maeve is whispering, tears streaming down her face, guilt tracked through the disbelief and hurt. "I am not the reason that he is dead. I refuse to believe that." I want to go and hug her, just touch her, see that she's alive, keep her in my heart. I taste salt on my lips, and I know I'm crying.
"Enough of this, Luis." Nate's voice is hard, and I can tell he is brimming with fury. I know he sees Maeve as a little sister, and that it's killing him as much as me to keep his distance right now. "We're sick of you toying with us. What do you want from us?"
"You want to stop, huh?" Luis replies to Nate, his eyes on Maeve the full time. "Mabye someone should have thought about that before they caused my friends death!"
"Hold up." Copper steps in.
"Since when were you friends with Simon?"
"Since forever." Luis spat, his gaze not leaving Maeve. "You think I wanted to be part of your picture perfect group of friends? I did what I had to to survive. Also, Simon always said it was useful having someone on the inside.""Okay, enough." Addy spoke up. She looked shaken from what she had heard, but determined. "What do you want?"
Luis answered her question, but directed the reply towards Maeve.
"What I want, is to look into your eyes when I do this."
And with that, Luis jerked forward, sinking the blade in his hand I to the soft flesh of Maeve's abdomen, stabbing her.-

I'm so sorry as I know it has literally been forever since I've posted, but to be honest, I was struggling to post this. I've had serious writers block lately and I've been so busy but hopefully I can just push through this! I think I'm only gonna have a couple more chapters then an epilogue, but I would love suggestions on what to write next! Any other book series, original ideas, continuations of this, etc. are appreciated, so please comment and let me know! ❤️
