"It's never been so quiet.." the King spoke with a soft voice. He was so used to the chirping in his household he never realized how silent the forest would be.
The great sage looked at the stars, enchanted by the many things they made in the dark sky. He adored on how each of them shined brightly. They shared the sky until the Sun would show it's face.
But...
He knew he'd never shine with his Moon like the stars did.... He hated it so much. He wanted to hear his Moonlight laugh and smile. But he could never get that back.
Not after he took Macaque's eye all those years ago.
".....Weird.." the golden spoke once more and hugged himself with his tail. He could hear the wind flowing around his body but he didn't bother to grab a blanket. He just kept staring at the sky.
"Quit being depressed Wukong."
"Hey Macaque."
The now black furred monkey sat next to the golden. They said nothing else and just silently watched the sky.
One was afraid to speak while the other simply didn't care for comments. But their bodies were the opposite.
You could see a ginger and pitched black tail slowly intertwining with each other with ease. Both bodies missed the other's warmth but neither simians would ever admit it.
Until the Sage spoke in a small whisper.
"Hey Macaque..?"
"Yeah Wukong?"
"Never mind.." Macaque could hear Wukong's heartbeat. It was fast and slightly panicked. He knew to an extent what Wukong longed to say but wouldn't dare. Not after everything that has happened.
But the image of them both in the scroll getting along only repeated in both of their heads.
............................
"I missed you Lunar..."
I guess Macaque was wrong.
"I missed you too Sunshine."
